I applied to NYU Stern (this past fall/spring) and got rejected, so I'm going to UT Austin next year. But I am greatly unexcited for UT and I really don't want to go there-I'm going there because of family pressure. But I really want to transfer to NYU. Can anyone tell me how hard it's going to be to transfer to Stern? I heard transfer students have an easier time getting in than freshman because of the smaller applicant pool but I have no idea if that's actually true.

What all do I need to do to get in as a transfer?

Similarly I applied for transfer to both UT and NYU Stern after my freshman year at Penn State. You should shoot for a 3.7+ GPA to have a good chance and participate in some ECs.

Although I know this is not that reliable of a source, wiki says that the transfer rate is 12% while normal admissions is 18%. Regardless transferring is probably going to be harder. While the applicant pool is smaller, so is the number of available spots. This past year there were about 50 transfers entering sophomore year and I would guess about the same amount for juniors. The people who apply for transfer will be very competitive as every transfer applicant strongly desires to go to NYU and their college transfer statistics will reflect that.

I got rejected from NYU and I am going to UT as well!!
Will you try again next year?
I didnt get into the finance department, so I am kinda worried about that

I’m defintely going to try again next year. My hs gpa is ok (3.5) but stern rejected me so I might apply to an easier school to get into within nyu. Any thoughts? I want to be an entertainment lawyer.

Media, Culture, Communications @Steinhardt. you can take Stern classes and pre-law classes in CAS and intern in the entertainment industry. i got into MCC with a 3.4.

Yeah, feel free to PM me about MCC. I’ve taken classes about copyright, mass media and entertainment business. Many MCC majors go on to law school.

Out of curiosity, do you know which law schools your classmates are getting into from NYU (your specific program in MCC and/ or other academic programs)?

I don’t know that many specifics, sorry. If you transfer to MCC, or if you end up taking an admissions tour at NYU (or if you email the department and ask nicely), MCC might give you some specific schools.

if i take america history at a community college, will it cover world cultures for the map program for steinhardt?

i want to take a literature and history class to cover conwest and world cultures… but im not sure if they will be accepted as those credits and thus, a waste of time…
