NYU transfers 2009~

Hey all,

anyone thinking of transfer for NYU 2009?

For me, i'm dying to transfer to NYU. Forfeited the opportunity to even apply last year, due to my family's financial problems.

Going to a canadian university for a year, and hoping to transfer to the states.

I'm thinking about it...but maybe i wont choose NYU cuz there's little FA there...again, finance should be a problem...

I am. I hope I get in.

i hope i get into stern

i would love to get in but financial burden will be too much. i am at uci right now and hating every second of the social life here. nyc would be a great change. i'm gonna apply and hopefully get in there for medical school

I'm going apply to Stern..

Gallatin! Woohoo

hey, is it insanely hard to transfer into NYU?

my high school mark is pretty ****ty.. didn't apply last year.

SAT1 : 2400
SAT 2s: WRit: 780, US HIS: 800, Chinese: 800

If i get a 4.0+ GPA for first year, in addition to great reccomends, essays and supps. do i have a shot?

Also, I have a family line of NYU graduates.

@miss-sixty - You call that ****ty? G-d, then I'm an effing idiot.

I'm not transferring [costs too much, not fond of NY, bad financial aid from what I hear], but it's one of my considerations for grad school.

soledad:

my test marks were good, but my high school GPA is really. ****ty. I don't even want to mention it. i slacked off completely during my 10,11, years... managed to pull off grade 12 okay. ==

I am. I'm at Eugene Lang College right now and miserable here ...

Do any of you know when it's better to apply for? (spring '09 or fall '09?) I'd rather spring just so I can get out of here faster...

I'm hoping for Spring 09 admission to Steinhardt.

Adhag, why do you hate Eugene Lang so much? I was thinking of applying there as well, but I can't find any real student opinions on it.

@miss-sixty - Ah, I see. Well, you have at least a 2.5-3.0, right? [Not that any lower would be bad, just, very mismatched from your scores.] I understand with the slacking though, I did it in 8th and 9th and it hurt me kinda bad.

@soledad: hmm.. I don't really know how to calculate my GPA? i'm from Canada. We do percentages.. The reason for the slacking was because I thought I would be attending a canadian university (which. i am). Canadian universities only look at ur grade 12 mark.

I'm applying to gallatin also, but I'm scared about my sat scores their really sh***y

nyu44, you can retake your sat in college, but i'm not sure if nyu looks at the score from after high school graduation.
i heard nyu is relatively easy to transfer into. in fact, some people think nyu is overrated.

termterm: really..? relatively easy...? for ppl with an insane GPA maybe..? haha

yeah, the transfer rate is much higher than anywhere else.
of course, places like stern is more competitive, but even that's within nyu that has wider acceptance pool.
some threads on CC say that nyu transfer acceptance is only 10%, but that's not really true at all. the rate of people being accepted to nyu is much higher than ivy schools like columbia

I think I posted this somewhere else before, but now that there's actually a thread for it I mind as well get some extra feedback.

I applied to NYU last year but didn't get accepted. I am at Penn State Harrisburg for my freshman year at the moment. I am planning on majoring in finance, and from what I've heard admission into Stern is more restrictive.
HS GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1220
SAT2: Math1C - 690
Math2C - 580
Assuming that I get at least a 3.8 GPA, what are my chances of transferring to NYU.

I am currently a Comparative Literature major at the University of Hong Kong (not a problem if you haven't heard of it). I am considering a transfer to the Cinema Studies program at NYU. I would like to ask:

I know that the Cinema Studies programs at Tisch and CAS are essentially similar (or same?) curriculum-wise. But will I have a higher chance of getting in if I apply for the CAS one?

Is the case of a successful transfer from an overseas university to Tisch unheard of? (I can't really afford being quixotic...)

Would help a lot if someone can give me some advice. Thanks.
