nyu, tufts, boston u......

Hey everyone...I applied ED to NYU Gallatin; I'm also applying to Tufts ED II (if rejected from NYU), Fordham, USC, Northeastern, Boston U, Brown, and Yale. What are my chances pleaase? :)

White F
Public school in Chicago burbs
GPA: 5.3 out of 5.0 (I'm not sure what that is UW on a 4.0 scale, but I'm guessing around 3.5?)
Rank: 28/512
ACT: 34 composite, 36r/36s/35e/29m
SAT IIs: 790 Lit, 650 BioM
PSAT: 221, NMSF

APs:
Biology- 5
US History- 4
Statistics- 4

I'm taking AP Chem, English, and Spanish this year.

ECs:
Violin is my major EC...
School Orchestra: 9, 10, 11, 12; Concertmistress for all 4 years, Senior Soloist, Outstanding Student of the Year 10 and 11, toured in Japan in June 2004.

Elgin Youth Symphony: 9, 10, 11, 12; Asst. Concertmistress, Section leader for 2 years, toured in Scotland in August 2006

District Orchestra/Allstate: 10 and 12; I didn't do it 9 or 11 because of the tremendous amount of practice involved...not enough time :</p>

I've also been taking private lessons since I was 4.

Other ECs:

Martial arts: 9, 10, 11, 12; 2nd dan black belt in Hap Ki Do and Asst. Instructor

Key club: 10, 11, 12

Spanish Club: 10, 11, 12

Spanish Honors Society: 10, 11, 12; Outstanding Student of the Year (10)

Volunteer at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago: 12

In December 2004 I started my own online business selling my own handmade crafts (tote bags, messengers, belts, etc.) I still maintain it and it's something I really enjoy doing

Work experience: 25 hrs/week as a receptionist from July 2005-April 2006, and I've been working at a sandwich shop 25 hrs/week since June 2006.

Other things: Neither of my parents went to college, and neither did any of my extended family except for my grandma. I think I want to major in biology/psychology.

You'll probably get into NYU. If you don't, Tufts will be more of a reach. Out of curiosity, why did you pick Gallatin over Tufts anyhow?

Brown and Yale are highly unlikely reaches. You're probably in at your other schools.

ur into gallatin 4 sure...
at least i think so

id hit it...

I picked Gallatin over Tufts because the program allows me to integrate music into my concentration and take lessons for credit and because I love NYC. I love Tufts too, though, and could definitely see myself going there and being really happy.

I don't think Brown is an unlikely reach (just a regular old reach), seeing the op has standardized scores above avg. Yale prbly is unlikely b/c of the class rank. From the Chi burbs, interested in music/biology/psychology, why not consider NW (looks like you want to get away).

Thanks everyone! :)
