Hey, I'm interested in NYU, but my stats are a bit low (as in, my high school course load is not sufficient enough and my SATs... are sad, but I'm taking Kaplan this summer). I got into their Urban Journalism Workshop, which I found extremely fascinating considering that it's one of those workshops that lets you dorm in NYU itself. :) I almost gave up on NYU before I was accepted into the workshop, but now I'm considering admission once again, despite the fact that I may not be able to afford it.

Did anyone else get into this program?

The website is http://journalism.nyu.edu/ujw/index.htm for anyone interested in applying next year. Good luck to you guys :)

How much, do you think, will this program help me for admission into NYU's CAS as a journalism major?

Oh, and I'm new to College Confidential, I've read a lot of the threads, but never registered. Hi, guys :)

? o_O No response?

i think getting into the program is a great accomplishment, but you should not assume that your admission there will reflect what will happen when you apply to NYU. I am not sure what your academics are, all I can say is, do very well the rest of this year and next year...Try to bring your SATs up as much as you can...as far as Kaplin is concerned, I believe they are a rip off, my advice, buy "10 Real SATS" and take as many practice tests as you can, that is the only way your score will go up...But do not go crazy over it...SATs are not the most important thing, the most important thing is remaining motivated...If you really have your heart set on NYU and are not sure you will get in, apply early(only if financial aid is not a problem) and put "General Studies" as a preference...There are many kids in my school who did this, because they did not think they would get in through their prefered schools admission policies, and they got in through "General Studies", which, contrary to popular belief is a great program but uses various criteria for admission, rather than sole academics...Good Luck, I am sure you will be fine.
