NYU & UW Chances

I'm currently a junior. Attend a small high school in Washington state.

GPA (UW): 3.93
SAT: 1920 (CR: 670 M:600 W:650)- Re-taking in May and probably the fall. Expect 2100-2200.
AP: AP Lang this year. Next year- AP Lit, AP Gov, and AP Environ. Science. 4 total.
Running Start (Dual Enrollment): Took PoliSci 101 this year. Will take one class this summer and another in fall of senior year. 3 total.
ECs: Soccer, 3 yrs. JV, 1 yr. Varsity
Basketball, 2 yrs. C-Team.
National Honor Society, 10-12th grade
ASB (Student Gov.), Exec. Treasurer, 11th grade. Position TBD, 12th grade.
Charitable Organization (can't name here), 9th-12th grade, recently appointed treasurer. (Help fundraise to help children in 3rd world countries)
Job- 9-12th grade, work part time helping manage financials of corporation grossing $4-5 million a year. (Seems pretty significant to me).
Community Service:
Very little, 20-30 hours throughout high school.

Chances for: U-Washington (In-State) and NYU (Most likely applying for LSP).

Okay, I will assume you will get 2150 for SAT.
A few questions here:

 1. You have been in national honors society and a Charitable Organization for 3~4 years, but you’ve only had 20~30 hours of service hours? Seems unreasonable.
 2. Any SAT II Scores?

Based from what you’ve gave me, I think your chance of getting in is around 50/50. You didn’t seem to challenge yourself since you’ll take only 4 APs in total and two of them aren’t considered the hardcore ones. Your extracurricular hours also seems insignificant when you even attended those service clubs for that long. Your grades and SAT (2150) are solid though. Make sure your essays are awesome, then you have a nice chance at them.

Didn’t realize I could add those hours. Thanks.

No SAT II scores

I’ll only have taken 4 APs total due to the fact that my school, as I said, is small, and it only offers 8 or 9 APs, most of them only once a day. Because of this I was limited in that area, most classes either filled up quickly in that area or did not fit into my schedule (I also am required to take leadership class). I tried to challenge myself, but it just was not possible with my school’s scheduling. That is also the reason why I have done college classes through the running start program.

@nav2497 then I guess it’s acceptable, just make your essay awesome! It is unarguably a key component of the app that can turn uncertainty to acceptance

Bump
