i have been accepted to a few of the schools i applied too, but have narrowed it down to these three. Also, i was waitlisted at UVA, and am wondering which one i should accept, and is pursuing a spot at UVA worth it? I am not entirely sure on what i want to study yet, but am fairly certain its either history or business

thanks for your help!

Hopkins is the most prestigious on your list, Boston College would have the most well-rounded college experience (D-1 sports, etc.).

It's a tough choice, but I'd probably go with NYU if it's not too expensive.

I'd have to disagree and say UVA offers the most well-rounded experience.

For what you want to study, I would go to JHU or BC and definitely go after UVA! UVA is strong in everything and it seems to offer the best social atmosphere as well.

I'm not sure how a school in which the majority of students are from Virginia wins the "most well rounded" prize. In any event, its sort of moot since the OP doesn't now have the choice of UVa.

Of the three acceptances, I think it matters a lot what you want to major in. If History--Hopkins is ranked #9, NYU is #22, BC is #51. Rankings surely aren't everything but in this case the difference is substantial. By the way, UVA is #19. Hopkins is a great place to study history.

Business is different. NYU is quite strong. BC (and UVA) decent as well. You can't major in business at Hopkins as an undergraduate but you can minor in it. If business is your passion, Hopkins is not the best choice at this point in time (It has a brand new business school but it will be a graduate only institution).

is it worth accepting the waitlist spot for virginia? or are the other three schools better?

Academically, Hopkins is the best of the group (unless you decide to major in business--in which case I'd say NYU is best). Culturally, UVA is quite different than the other three (it is, after, a public university in Virginia) and, if that culture is most important to you, then you should accept the wait list position. There is, however, no reason to do that for purely academic reasons.
