i've been accepted to nyu-gallatin and umich-cas. i want to study the film industry, and both schools have strong business/film programs (umich stronger in business, nyu stronger in film). nyu will def score me more connections in the industry, especially through internships, but it is VERY close to home. umich has the campus-feel i like but i think it might be hard designing a curriculum there suited to me. i cannot decide between the two, hopefully sunday in the sq and a visit to ann arbor will help.

Not at the undergraduate level. Corporate recruiters view things very differently than US News. For film, it goes without saying that NYU is better.

Also, for the overall freshmen class, NYU's student body is better than UMich's--NYU has a much lower acceptance rate (20's vs. 60s for UMich) and a higher SAT average by at least 50 points.

ha yah good point. umich is hs all over again. they accept anybody who apply... i know cuz i hav tons of friends who get high all day long n gets like a 26 on the act n a 3.5 and gets in with ease. so maybe instate is easier to get in... but still

hs all over again, i mean by that as in...

i TOOK aps so i can escape those regularees who dont study who disturb classes who make u wanna wring their neck n tell them to shutup or u sit there and stare and them and think HOW ON EARTh CAN ANY1 BE SOO STUPID. well u go to princeton, u basicly emilinated all of them, maybe 1 or 2 escapes the net; u go to umich, its a complete replay of hs blown into a bigger proportion considering they have 24000 pple instead of 1200 or so in hs. u have your "honors college" like taking ap classes, bu... theres always plenty of dummies tat make u think... i worked hard for 4 years so i can end up in college with THIS DUDE?

I went to NYU over this summer, and we were told that gallatin students can only take film classes up to a certain level (e.g. not at the advanced level). Besides, are you interested in "studying the industry" as you said, or becoming a filmmaker? If you want to be a filmmaker, I would suggest going to NYU and then transfering into Tisch...I'm in high school taking film courses at Umich and I love my classes (increible teachers! take film theory and crit 414 its amazing). Umich film is not at the same level as NYU but both are excellent programs.
