NYU v. Wesleyan University

Hey, I'm an American living abroad and I've can't decide between NYU CAS and Wesleyan University. Both have offered me the same amount of financial aid (aka pretty much none :( ) so thats not an issue. My parents think coming from abroad, and having lived in the suburbs, and going to a REALLY small school (16 kids in my senior class), I will be lost at NYU. I love NYC though...Could anyone tell me what advantages NYU has over Wesleyan?

Thank you all in advance :)

PS. I would probably be doing International relations or at least something in humanities/social sciences

NYC is possibly the best place study international relations. We have the UN here and many world organizations. Good place to get internships, it’s literally next door.

You may have went to a small school and NYU is a big school with 40,000 students in total but hey it’s a new experience you should be in. The world isn’t restricted to a tiny place.

Thanks, that is a good point. Anyone else?

Although NYU has a really good international relations major, they only accept about 20 kids per year out of the many who apply to it. It’s extremely competitive, and if that’s the ONLY major you would ever consider, I wouldn’t choose NYU.

I can understand where your parents are coming from about NYU being a big change and all, but to be honest the fact that NYU is massive is what pushed me to choose it. I also am coming from a small school in a very rural area, and I am looking for a change. I was considering Bard, but I decided on NYU because I couldn’t imagine spending another 4 years in the middle of nowhere.
