I have been having a really hard time deciding between NYU CAS and Barnard, and I am really trying to make the final decision right now (as the deadline is a few days away for deposits), and I would love to hear some opinions!

Basically, I got a full ride from NYU, and I got about 35k in financial aid from Barnard. The money is not really a huge problem for me, but would play a factor as I feel like I would have to pay so much more if I went to Barnard.

I have always loved Barnard and the feel of the campus, but lately as I've been comparing schools a lot of the negatives about it have gotten to me. NYU definitely appeals to me socially, and I feel like I would have amazing experiences at both. I really like NYU as well, and so basically I am stuck. Any opinions about either of them?

Also, I am so indecisive right now that I might just put down two deposits... is that bad?

Thank you so much for your help and opinions, I really appreciate it! :)

NYU!!! Do it just cause its more well known internationally.

NYU students and Columbia students generally don’t like Barnard students because it’s seen as a back door into Columbia, which they see as unfair because it was harder for the actual Columbia students to get into Columbia and the NYU students didn’t get into Columbia. And yes, NYU has a reputation of having a lot of Columbia rejects.

Personally, I would choose NYU, but I’m obviously biased.

Go for NYU, Barnard isn’t worth $100k more. NYU may have slightly less prestige, but you also get to live in a MUCH better part of the city. The East Village is expensive, and you’ll have the one-in-a-lifetime chance to live there for free.

put down 2 deposits, ull just have to lose one of them when you make your decision. I guess it just all boils down to whether or not you want a columbia degree or NYU degree. It dosent matter what other people think tbh at the end of the day its still a columbia diploma…i would look at your anticipated major and see which school fits better
