NYU vs Berkeley for Communications/Media Studies

I've narrowed down my choices for college to NYU and Berkeley. I currently live in Southern California and have never been to the Bay Area or NYC so both locations will be new to me. After receiving my financial aid information, I will be paying around the name amount for either school. Can someone vouch for either school and tell my why it would the better choice?

I realize NYU is probably better opportunity-wise, given it's big city location. But Berkeley is prestigious and much more academically focused than NYU. Living in NYC is also a lot more expensive than living in the Bay Area. I really have no idea what to choose and I would really appreciate some help!

Please help!?

You can see the list of specific degrees offered by both the schools here, under the header ‘Specific Degrees’, you can see if the major you are interested in is on the list.

And the CC discussion on the following thread can give you some pespective,

Go to NYU. Berkeley is an amazing school, but you can’t get any better than NYU for communications. The internships and opportunities you’ll receive from attending NYU are the best you could hope for.

What is the financial aid like? What is the cost of attendance for each school? How will you afford each school? How much debt will you be in? Most people recommend avoiding any debt greater than about $25k.

Answer these questions BEFORE deciding. Going to Berkeley over NYU or vice versa will have no distinct advantage or disadvantage.

Hahaha bay area is cheaper than NYC? That’s the funniest thing I have heard all day. good luck with that.
