Alright, so basically I got into: NYU, BC, UCLA and Berkeley

I applied to study politics and economics (depending on the school). It seems that Berkeley tops the list in prestige, with UCLA a bit behind, but ive heard its really competitve with a 24/7 working lifestyle. I want a uni with prestige, hot girls, good parties, socialising and all that…basically, just a fun uni with a good rep. Would go NYU, but hear that socialising is a challenge with the lack of campus and its not as highly regarded as the two UCs

I’m international and money isnt really an issue as theyre all fairly comparable.

Anyway, which one should i go for?

^ hey i’m in the same situation as you … except i didn’t apply to UCLA or berkley because of the problems the UC schools have money wise. But i got into BC and NYU. I disagree with what you’re saying about prestige and would say that NYU has the highest presitge of them all and probably Berkley second and UCLA and BC tied for 3rd, but honestly they are all VERY close prestige wise from what I’ve heard/can tell. Apparently BC and NYU and UCLA have the hottest girls from those schools … BC is strict w/ underage drinking … and lot’s of gay guys and hot girls at NYU so it’s easy to get with good looking girls … (I’ve done my research on the party scene at my schools hahaha, I want a fun college experience too)

I’m leaning towards NYU because of the city (unless of course I get into Upenn or Harvard) … Which is AMAZING, not sure if you’ve ever been to Manhattan

hope that helps

so glad u look for the same things in a college experience. so many people here look down on people for caring about anything but academics. I think ill go to NYU too cos my parents are really on it cos its close to home. Shame missing out on the ucla girls but i suppose the ridiculous ratio at nyu will compensate.

lol, I know … lots of people on here forget college is for fun too, if you don’t have a good time in college when will you? working in the real world? hahah YEAH RIGHT. I’m glad there’s people considering NYU that have the same principles as me. And on **************.com UCLA girls are basically the same as NYU sooo … who knows plus at NYU you have all of NYC

UC Berkeley is top notch for most graduate programs, especially politics and economics. You could even try applying for Haas School of Business, which is one of the best business schools in the country. However, the atmostphere at UC Berkeley is very cut throat. My siblings go to UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UCSD, and UC Berkeley is definitely the most academically painful and has the worst girls. Since all 4 schools you are considering are strong academically, I’d choose either UCLA or BC for the party/social life. Berkeley also has social life but it is very limited. However, access to marijuana is ridiculously easy, if that’s what you are into. It’s basically legal at Berkeley too.

And for the money issue for the UC’s… they are countering the budget crisis by accepting more out of state students, who pay around 3 times the tuition of an in state student.

Couldn’t agree with you more on the party/girls front…

I’m from England (as I assume you are, judging by your username) and I applied to all those schools: I got rejected by Berkeley and UCLA, but got into NYU; however, I’m still waiting on BC’s decisions. By the way, when did you get you letter? I haven’t had an e-mail or anything!

Berkeley seems pretty boring, to be honest, and way too much hard work. NYU, I imgaine, is really good on the socialising front, if you’re quite independent, and seeing as you’re from the UK, I geuss you’re probably into clubbing rather than house/dorm parties… for that reason NYU edges it. Also, NYU is like 65% female and half the guys are gay; so you’ll find an abundance of ****-hungry girls. Not to mention, the academic reputation seems decent, from what I’ve read.

I’m pretty sure I’ll end up there as well…

yeah pretty good point. i got my boston college letter yesterday, but i think u can check the status of ur app online through alora or something
