i just got accepted to carnegie mellon through wait-list. I kind of made my mind for nyu but now i am a little skeptical. I am majoring in sociology and here are some plus and minuses for each school

NYU
- in the city, good for job opportunities/intern
- academically strong across the board

CMU
-Better ranked
- academically strong but, one sided on computer sci/engineer
:( no social life..

Financially both are giving me similar aid. so it really comes down to the school aspect and working environment.
What do you guys think?

I was in your position in 2007. Accepted to NYU, CMU and Emory. My top 3 choices. I eventually ranked them

NYU
Emory
CMU

I am in Stern. I liked all 3 schools. I will admit CMU has top ranked programs across the board. Tepper is now one of their hardest schols to get into. CMU and Emory offered better Financial Aid (no surprise there). But the considering the combination college/city NYU and NYC came out on top for me.

Everyone has to make their own decision though. It looks like you have fine options.

I’d have to agree that Penn State is the best school ever!! They have freakin’ awsome parties and Nickie Klingler, who just so happens to be the ****! is going to be there next year so I CAN NOT wait to be there. WE ARE PENN STATE

Hahahaha CMU /= PSU. Nice one. Yeah I have a lot of family at PSU but it was totally not for me. And NYU gave me loads of more money.

ANYWAYS both NYU and CMU are pretty ace options though so as previously stated, you will kick butt and take names at either school I am sure.
