NYU vs Pace - Undergrad

Hey guys

I would like to ask your opinion on NYU vs Pace.

I would like to pursue accounting/finance degrees at college and was wondering which college is better ?

The primary reason why I chose these colleges were because of its location (business hub/financial district-wall street) and of course its reputation NYU Stern has one of the best business schools in the world and Pace has a AACSB accreditation.

I understand that its difficult to enter both but I'll still try :) Remember I want to pursue an undergraduate course.

So which one is better in terms of employability in the US?

Definitely NYU stern. Especially for finance. I’ve never actually heard of pace before so I can’t help you there.
Are you intending to work in the states or pursue a career back here?

While Pace’s Lubin is a fairly respectable institution, it is nowhere near Stern’s league at all. If the choice between the two does materialize in the end, it would be quite an easy one for a savvy business major to make I’d think. Proximity to NYC doesn’t necessarily make or break a future Wall Street career - the bulbge brackets recruit heavily from top schools all over, so don’t let that be the sole determinant when choosing schools. Virginia’s McIntire, Michigan’s Ross, CMU’s Tepper are not too dissimilar in terms of selectivity and are probably worth a look at as well.

thanks for the advice :)

I’ve been reading a lot about U Mich in these forums lately, its apparently very popular amongst Singaporeans! I wrote in last year and they sent me a bunch of flyers and booklets for me to look through. So I’m definitely considering U Mich. McIntire seems interesting I’ll definitley read up on that!

I understand that Stern is really well known and reputable but the thing with Stern is, it does not offer undergrad programme for accounting, so im kinda upset about that. Pace on the other hand, offers a BBA in Accounting, plus I really like the atmosphere of NYC! I still have time to think though and maybe I’ll change my mind later.

hellothere777-
thanks :)

Pace University is pretty well known in the US. I don’t blame you though, here in SG, we’re pretty oblivious to many excellent colleges other than the Ivies.

Oh and to answer your question, i intend to pursue a career in the US

K first of all… What are you talking about??? Stern doesn’t offer undergrad programme for accounting? Are you crazy?

http://www.stern.nyu.edu/UC/CurrentStudents/Academics/MajorsAndMinors/Majors/index.htm

It’s the first one the list… Not only does stern offer an undergrad concentration in Accounting, it also has a BS/MS joint programme for accounting that will better prepare you for the CPA exam. My suggestion, if tuition is not a problem for you then go to stern.

I’ve never heard of Lubin until i searched it up… But that’s probably cuz i’m from outta state.

Woah Woah! Chill jeesh!
You’re obviously quite offended…and you really like Stern alot! Since you have it in your username and all.

Well thanks for your input i guess…
you should calm down…

Wow you need to do your research better, though. Definitely choose Stern.

I have no idea what Pace is, and I live here, so. Nobody else I know knows what it is either. Definitely go for Stern, if you can.

Lol dude i’m not mad. Just trying to help. The exclamation marks in the first part of my comment was just to show that i was a little shocked that u didn’t know stern had an accounting major. You didn’t do anything offensive lol I was just trying to provide you some info. I don’t like Stern A LOT. It’s not a bad place lol and i have it in my name not because i love … i just go there lol. Shoot me a msg if you need any more info regarding stern or NYU in general. I’d be glad to help.

k thks! I still have quite a bit of time before my application process sooo I’ll make sure to do more research

If money’s no problem, then NYU if not pace because they are well affiliated! And it’s undergrad, it’s not that important.
