NYU vs Pepperdine

I was recently accepted into both Pepperdine and NYU, but I am wondering which is going to be the “best bang for my buck” I do not really know what it is I want to pursue, but something with marketing/business/political science.

See, I was accepted into NYU Liberal Studies Core program which from what I have read does not allow a transfer after sophomore year to Stern, and if so it is quite rare (30-40 students a year). I would have to go to the College of Arts and Sciences which only has a political science major, none of the business majors I would like. At Pepperdine however, I am accepted into their actual program and I am able to attend the business classes that I like.

I am also a little worried about the conservativeness of Pepperdine. I am guy (gay) and a lot of my friends are girls…will I have trouble making friends/fitting in at Pepperdine?

Thanks! I know a lot of people who are wondering some of the same questions.

Thanks. Can you explain a little more?

From what I understand Pepperdine is cheaper. Plus you already know what you want to do and it seems you’d have a more direct, focused track to it at Pepperdine

Do you see yourself ending up living in NYC or in Cali? That is really the main decision, since statistically it is more likely you will end up living in relative proximity to your college.

Good luck!

Even if you are allowed to transfer to Stern, the chances are very slim. NYU only accept a FEW Stern transfers.
If business is your goal you should choose elsewhere.

Do you have any other options besides Pepperdine and NYU? Pepperdine is not a great place for gays, especially compared to the huge number of other options in Southern California.

Nope, only school I am waiting to hear back from is UPenn.

Before you commit to Pepperdine, read [this. If possible get in contact with an lesbian or gay student to discuss your concerns. One way to do this would be by tweeting Pepperdine Reach Out](http://pepperdine-graphic.com/the-state-of-lgbt-affairs-at-pepperdine-university/) and seeing if you could contact a current student.

I read the article, ehhh I have been reading a bunch of those but they all do not really bother me. I do not really care for an LGBT organization, but I just want to know if I am going to stand out/have friends/be treated weird.
