I was admitted to both NYU-GSP and Temple. I am split on which one to go to. I'm not sure if it is worth going to NYU because it is so expensive, but I think it might be worth it to live in nyc and make good connections. With Temple, I would save a lot of money (paying in-state tuition) and Philly is a lot cheaper to live in. Also, I would have money for grad school. Please tell me what you think I should do.

What are you planning to major in?

You're actually in a situation similar to mine. I also considering NYU for connections and NYC, but might choose state school instead. Well, what I'm doing is applying to both (considering Temple for a while, actually) and see if the finances/scholarships work out okay. Whatever I get, I will visit NYC and research internships and nearby companies and say is it worth blah blah extra per year.

But the good thing about Temple is that it IS in Philly, so you can still make connections and internships and what not. If I do plan on going to the state school, I will take my saved money and attend any professional seminars and exhibitions in metro areas and grow my network that way.

I'm undecided right now. I was thinking something with business, but if i go to nyu im in CAS so i think economics would be the closest thing i could major in to business.

yeah thats something i have to look into.. internships and companies in NYC and Philly

Fox is without a doubt one of the most underrated business schools in the country. If you do well at Fox, there isn't any doubt that you'll be able to land a great job. We're best known for International Business (top 10 in the country), Risk Management (#7), and Entrepreneurship (#6), although pretty much everything is well regarded (Finance, Accounting, Real Estate, etc.) We have a brand new $80,000,000 business school that will be opening very soon, which looks absolutely fantastic, and will do wonders for the school.

While I'm not a major in Fox, I'm a business minor through Fox, and my major is an extension/sister school of Fox, and will be moving into the new building. I really couldn't recommend it enough.

NYU is a fantastic school and all (I visited with my brother who was looking at Stern), but I didn't get a good vibe at all--kids were kind of weird/different/not my type of people, and I know I wouldn't be happy there compared to Temple.

And to top it all off, if you can get a scholarship from Temple (or even if you can't), few schools are a bigger bargain.

Depends on how much you care for your own safety. NYU has a private army of 300 policeman ensuring you're bodily safe and well, while Temple is in the middle of a hot spot of a under-developed abandoned industrial region of the city known for its poverty and drug-related offenses (aka Warzone)

Just when I plan to pull Temple off of my list, TUOwls2011 comes and makes me want to apply for Fox's Actuarial Science or Risk Management major. But that's pretty hard to choose over University of Michigan in-state...

We have the fourth largest police force in the state of Pennsylvania, with security booths all over campus and buttons to press in case of emergency. Despite what you might know/think, where we are is not really bad at all. There are some bad neighborhoods, but there are much worse parts of Philly to be in. Not to mention our ongoing gentrification program. No one walks around scared and ducking for cover. Unless you're completely sheltered and racist, you have nothing to worry about.

I love Temple, but if I could go anywhere, UMich would be in my top three. I didn't do remotely well enough to even bother trying. I just absolutely love A2 and the school. My brother is likely going to end up at Ross if he doesn't get into Wharton, so I should hopefully be able to get back to Mich. Although I will say, the kids there aren't exactly the nicest I've ever met.
