My friend is between these two schools right now, and is not sure which to go to. Some of the factors he is considering are:

-fencing team. NYU is Div 3, and Tufts only has it as a club sport. He wants to be able to compete; which is better for that?
-chemistry. This is his potential major.
-community service. He wants to get very involved in some kind of community service that he can lead kind of individually... which of these has more of those kinds of opportunities?

However, his main concern is transfer... he would like to transfer after a year to a 'better' school--ideally, Columbia. Please don't ask why... fact of the matter is, that's his main goal, and he's pretty set in it. Does anyone know which of these schools it would be easiest (not that it'll be easy to begin with) to transfer from to Columbia? Consider that the fencing and the community service are two things he'd like to appear highly on his resume when he applies.
