Which is the best and why? (pre-med track-idk my major yet-idk my speciality yet but probably pediatrics/ freshman in highschool rn if that means anything lol)

all are excellent for premed. If you are instate, UC is much cheaper. If you are OOS, you would be foolish to pay the OOS fees.

Then it becomes a choice between South-Central at a school with great school spirit, or The Village.

What do you mean?

Sophie2017: I think what Bluebayou was trying to say is that the almost 3 thousand OOS and International students attending UCLA (and probably the same number of students attending Berkeley) are stupid and idiots. He or she would rather that you spend your 50k a pear in a school like U of San Francisco or Santa Clara or Pepperdine than UCLA or Berkeley.

^Rather, I think the point is that a great non-CA resident is far more likely to get aid significant enough to make a dent in college costs at Santa Clara or Pepperdine than at UCLA or Berkeley. But yes, I do agree that it is foolish to pay $40,000 per year to go to Berkeley or UCLA with NO aid. It’s also foolish to go to Pepperdine or Santa Clara and pay $40,000 per year with no aid; the fact that it’s Berkeley or UCLA means nothing. Unless a student’s family is very wealthy or has some external aid, that means going into debt about $160,000, which is untenable for a bachelor’s degree holder.

And for the actual choice at hand, the OP is more likely to get aid (need or merit) at NYU or USC than UCLA, unless you’re a CA resident.

But this is all too early. If you’re a freshman in high school, OP, don’t get attached to any specific colleges yet. I was even less sure of what I wanted in my freshman year than I was in my senior year. Do well in class, get involved in activities about which you are passionate, and come back to this question in your junior year of HS.

I always think of UCLA as a great school for the sciences. Many bright people there are interested in pre-med so you would be in great company. USC also has the Keck school and hospital, located in a different part of LA. The school itself is equally as prestigious but I’m inclined to think UCLA has better pre-med programs. I think those two are better than NYU. I suggest you do your own research and ask your school guidance counselor, as well. Best of luck
