I've been accepted to both. I plan to be a Spanish major and pre-med at both as well. I can't decide what to do...any advice?

I know Miami has a 7 year med program and has some respect in that area, but NYU is a way better location, vibe and place overall. NYU, no question. I live in Florida and am also considering NYU, but no way UMiami.

Yeah I know about Miami’s straight 7 year program, but I didn’t apply. Which one do you feel has a stronger pre-med program? I’m very sure that I want to go to med school after college, so I’m making my college decision accordingly.

Honestly, I haven’t really heard anything of NYU’s med program. However, I do no they have something in sciences for women, and if you want to eventually work in NYC, I’ve talked to a neurosurgeon who said to try to go to med school where you’d like to get a job afterwards

ok! thanks for your help! do you by any chance know anything about Miami’s pre-med program?

I got into UM and waiting for NYU (probably won’t get in)
I honestly don’t know much about UM though, but there was this thing that you could have done as an applicant. They let really elite applicants in to the medical program.

UM HURRICANES!!!

Depends if you want to be in the hustle and bustle of NYC or a ritzy Miami suburb. Both are good schools.

Yeah i agree! But what about being pre-med at those schools? I kinda feel that NYU has a stronger pre-med program, but Im not sure…

My S considered applying to NYU, but dropped it after we visited. He wanted a more traditional campus and really liked UMiami. I think you should go where you will feel comfortable and be able to do your best work.

bump…
any advice?

I find NYU depressing. Yes, it’s in a great neighborhood, but it just lacks a sense of cohesiveness.

That’s an interesting point. Thank you!
