NYU vs UNC vs Vanderbilt vs USC

So I'm into these schools:

USC (half tuition scholarship)
Davidson
BC
NYU (7500/yr scholarship)
UNC-Chapel Hill (from out of state)
Vanderbilt

Waitlisted at Georgetown School of Foreign Service and UVA

Rejected from Columbia and Brown

Where should I go to school next year? I'm thinking either Vanderbilt, UNC, NYU, or USC... any suggestions? I really like being in an urban environment but am not sure if I like the impersonality I hear about nyu. I know little to nothing about what vanderbilt or unc is like.. I'm interested in social sciences and that sort of thing but once again im not sure

..............

money a factor: USC
money not a factor: Vandy

you should totally go to school with 8,000 EBs and ZCs.....

Like you, I don't know much about Vanderbilt or UNC. You shouldn't consider going to a college you don't know much about. If they offered you an overnight opportunity, I'd highly recommend if you're thinking about those schools. Nice job on the Presidential at USC*. I know a lot of people do social sciences there, so chances are it's a decent program. As far as considering going to NYU, strength of program is probably just as important as your readiness for changing environment (or if you're from East Coast, same deal with USC). Would you rather be on East or West?

no preference

CUMMMMMON someone help me out (please?)

If being in/near a big city is important, then I'd go with USC, Vandy, or BC. UNC is great, but not urban.

People seem to either love or hate NYU. If big-city living is your thing, you couldn't ask for more of it than you'd get at NYU. USC/Vandy/BC would give you access to big cities but would also give you a verdant oasis as well.

I myself found the calm of a secluded green campus to be the perfect environment in which to focus on studies. I didn't miss not having all of the distractions that come with having to fight your way past panhandlers and drug dealers on the way to class. You'll have the rest of your life to wallow in the "real world." USC/Vandy/BC would give you enough exposure to urban realities that you wouldn't get ivory-tower disease, but you'd still be able to focus on the studies.

I would agree and probably choose USC.

UNC is a definate collegetown.

I would not be so quick to think that it has nothing to do. I do like Vandy as well. Both of them are more laidback than USC. BC is a good subrban choice with access to Boston.

I'd vote Vandy/UNC then BC/USC depending on fit.

IB

USC or BC. It's a matter of Los Angeles or Boston?

My first choice would be UNC, followed by Vanderbilt or Davidson.

If money is not an issue:

Vanderbilt

Davidson

UNC

NYU

BC

USC

Oops. I did n't see Davidson...

I'd go there 1st. Listen to Alexandre.

IB
