NYU vs. UNC

Hello all. I'm a new poster, but I've done a bit of lurking. I'm in need of advice and would appreciate any insight.

I'll be brief:

I'm a transfer student and would be a rising Junior. I currently live and attend a university in Connecticut (no need to name it).

I have a few days to make a final decision: UNC or NYU. I was admitted to UNC's General College as is customary; I was admitted to NYU Steinhardt for Education (three days ago), but I would probably attempt to transfer internally to CAS for Politics/Journalism/English. Same majors are at play for UNC. NYU is accepting fewer credits and would likely make me a Sophomore, but I'm not averse to that scenario.

Any input would be appreciated. Please ignore financial considerations and focus only on academics, environment, opportunities and so on.

Thanks.

You will get the full university experience at Carolina--sports, campus, small town focused on the university. If this is what you want then UNC is the obvious choice. OTOH if you want big city life, and don't care about a defined campus than NYU should interest you.

I went to Carolina for grad school. One of the absolute best experiences of my life--I met my wife there.

Would there be difficulty in transfering from education to CAS at either school? If you're pretty sure you can easily transfer, then base your decision on what kind of EXPERIENCE you want: big city vs. big u. Both offer an excellent education & "name recognition."
