NYU vs USC Neuroscience Major

I was recently accepted to both USC and NYU (neuroscience/neurobiology), which are two of my dream schools. I think they're two very different schools, and I don't know which one to go to! Can anyone who is currently at either school give me some insights about the pros/cons of that school? Also, how neuroscience/neurobiology programs ranked?

I know that both would be great... I'm just hoping that this will help me make my decision.

Anyone? Please

can you tell us what the costs to you will be, including loans, at each school?

For USC all together will be $61,000 NYU $63,000

PS I live in San Diego, CA

you rec’d no grants or merit from either school?

Nop

So your family has the ability to pay either school’s cost of attendance?

Yes. In full.

so finances are no issue for you. You wanted responses from students at the two schools, and since I’ve not attended nor have my children, I’ll let someone else suggest a school.

Finances are no issue. I was just wondering about neuroscience programs at both schools.

I didn’t look at NYU for D, but I did look at USC and was quite impressed. they have innumerable faculty. it is a large department with a couple rock stars working in it. It offers a BS which looks much like a standard pre-med curriculum with some psych/neuro courses tossed in, or a BA which is much lighter on the required bio, chem, and math courses and has a good deal more psych/neuro. I would recommend the Honors program if you go to USC as it will give you greater exposure to research opps and professors. do not ignore the opportunities at either school to hear and learn from faculty outside the school you’re attending thru weekly colloquia and visits to the lectures and colloquia of other campuses in the metro area. If you haven’t had the chance to see the facilities at USC, I recommend you check them out and interrogate the faculty, grad students, and undergrads who are working in those labs about research opps, funding for research, extramural summer research, etc.

It would be interesting to hear from the students who are attending these colleges and majoring in neuroscience.
