I know this is like comparing apples to oranges, but I'm so confused right now I just don't know what to do. I was accepted to NYU for the LSP program and at USC to the Annenberg school of communication. I love L.A. and I love New York. What should I dooooooooo?

Hard one…what kind of person r u??cause theres a BIG difference between LA people and new yorkers.

I would go with USC. I personally don’t think the LSP (not the new global liberal studies, right? I’m assuming) is worth the 60000 tuition to go to NYU.

ugh, i hate you. i would kill to go to annenberg for graduate school for communication.

honestly, that’s hard. if you can go to LSP -> Steinhardt, that would be comparable.

basically:

Annenberg: cultural communications
Steinhardt: cultural communications, advertising and marketing

a majority of our graduates go into advertising and PR and marketing because we’re in NYC. so many media firms here. print, PR, marketing, branding.

what do you want to do with communications?

@gloriapb-that’s the thing I think I’m the kind of person who could handle both cities. I love them each for different reasons. I know for sure though wherever I go for undergrad I’m going to the other for grad school.

@missamericanpie-I’m really not too sure where I want to go with it. I think I’ll probably try to get on at a magazine or newspaper. You know interns like at GQ or Vouge, but I also do want to write for real so it’s tough. I like NYU but I have to admit I almost feel cheated being put into LSP when I got accepted into Annenberg you know?

I still haven’t got my aid package from USC but if it helps I got 13.5K in scholarships from NYU and a ton of loans.

@nate

the department is getting really popular. one of my professors was telling me that they got soooooo many applications for the media program.

if you want to do newspapers or magazines, i still feel NYU is better. i know people in LSP who are interning at magazines and newspapers right now, and they’re starting in Steinhardt in the fall.

i have the exact same dilemma: usc or nyu lsp for journalism.
i think im going to stick with nyu just cuz theres so much more internship opps. im currently interning at 2 television stations and write for a online thing and i feel that nyc is just the place to take the next step.

even though its lsp, we’re still going to be able to get the same b.a. as everyone else. and can spend those two years doing internships

Annenberg for USC has global recognition for communications and it’s in the heart of LA.

What’s not to like?

ive been to usc a handful of times.
atmosphere wise: its pretty small compared to most colleges and its ghettooo

I definitely need to visit the USC campus for sure because I’ve only seen it in pictures. I love both schools, but it’s a tough call because they are both amazing but very different. I’ve never been to L.A. but I have I feeling I’d like it. On the other hand I’ve been to NYC a ton of times and know I love it. I talked to my parents and if I get my aid package soon we might fly out to L.A. to see the city and USC before the may 1st deadline, which I think will really help me come to a decision.
