NYU vs ut austin

major: comp sci
which one is easier to get in?

NYU in state?
ut austin OOS?

thx

NYU is a private university…“in state” doesn’t matter.

well then which one’s easier?
NYU overall vs ut austin OOS?

I know that NYU is a private school, the point is that ut austin only accept a small amount of OOS students, that’s why im wondering…

lol ur not even in new york. why would you wanna go to ut. completely different schools

what do u mean by Im not even in NY? my parents pay tax in NY.
well im not comparing the 2 schools, i just wanna know whether the admission of this public school is actually harder than that of a decent private school.

so? that doesnt make you instate at ny. you attend school in nj. you get in state tuiton at rutgers

so ur saying that having a permanent address in NY doesn’t do anything?

nope. its where you go to school and primary residence(only matters if bording school i think, not sure).

edit: i thought it did, but i asked teh same question a while ago(in terms of land, paying taxes etc

aight I read ur thread about residency. Well I think my parent’s primary address is in NY, and they have a NY drivers license, is that enough?

are you separated from your parents by any chance? how r u going to school in plainsboro?

this whole thread is kind of lulzy.

NYU is a private university who doesn’t care if you’re in state or not. it won’t help. while NYU has a lot of students from NY, it doesn’t impact your admissions decision.

there is no “NYU overall”. you have to pick a school within NYU.

here’s SUNY’s take on their definition of residency. i’m pretty sure every other NY college is going to follow this example:

[SUNY: Residency](http://www.suny.edu/Student/paying_residence.cfm)

thx for the link missamericanpie, I think I am counted as a resident, after looking at the section “Proof of Domicile”.

well then, how about “NYU CAS vs UT austin OOS”?
lol…

NYU and UT have very different social atmospheres. UT is more diverse, both ethnically and socio-politically. I think you should be researching the environment you want to be in and what you want to be studying before making such large comparisons. Comparing UT Austin to NYU is like comparing apples to oranges.
