Got waitlisted unfortunately. Does anyone know the waitlist stats for NYU for the past couple of years? Thanks!

me too!
i’m really angry

Pretty happy that its not a rejection though.

APRIL 3
chicago suburbs
stern

BTW, how does the waitlist work? isnt the national candidate reply for colleges by May 1, so uhh…??

^ yea im kind of confused about how waitlist works as well. Don’t we have to pay the deposit and accept financial aid by may 1st for most colleges? I really hope i get in off the waitlist.

I believe you typically make deposits at your next choice and then hope you get off the waitlist…

waitlisted too… i reallyyyyyyy wanted to go to nyu.

last year, nyu admitted 52% of the waitlistees. it was like 500 and something out of about a thousand and something. although i’ve heard that a few years ago it BARELY accepted any of those who were waitlisted. stay hopeful! and make your deposit at another school, your “second top choice”. good luck to all of us during this excruciating time. waiting on the waitlist is MUCH harder to go through than waiting on RD.

Post if you got waitlisted!!!

of that 52% admission of waitlistees, do you how many was for stern?

wow 52%? that makes me feel a little better.

What do you do when you’re waitlisted?

Like housing and financial aid and all that…arent you a little late to the party?

the 52% was for the entire university as a whole i think =\ not sure if they release stats like that for individual schools. but keep in mind, whatever happened last year doesn’t necessarily reflect what will happen this year unfortunately. all we can do is hope for the best!!! congrats to all who made it, im jealous hahaha. waitlistees unite!

where did u guys find the stats?

its on a few sites, but this is the first one i could find right off the bat:

[New York University - New York, NY: Average SAT and ACT Scores, GPA Requirements and Tuition](<a href=“Welcome schoolaah.com - BlueHost.com”>Welcome schoolaah.com - BlueHost.com)

so we’re not totally screwed?

but since the number of applicants went up, do you think more people were placed on the wait-list?

no idea =\ its different every year, all we can do is pray to God that we make it! along with indicating that you want to be placed on the waiting list haha. its best for those who also got waitlisted but are not sure/dont want to go to not place themselves on the waiting list. it gives a chance to people who would go 100% if they got admitted more of a chance :D

again, good luck everyone!!! i think we should find out in mid-may!

Lol…waitlisted. I must have really messed up my app…

Is anyone here from CA who got into the UCs?

awww maylix, don’t say that! if you were waitlisted, im sure you were def qualified! they say that a lot of waitlistees had “flat-apps”, applications with fairly strong credentials, but perhaps were lackluster in certain areas or did not stand out as much. i guess they’re just gonna re-evaluate our apps if they have to pull from the waiting list. hope that helped!

and, just a general question to all: if you were waitlisted, what school did you apply to? i’m trying to grasp an idea of how nyu works its waiting lists, and possibly see some pattern (although i well understand that they can change how they manage the list at anytime)

i applied to cas!

CAS as well… looks like we gotta wait another month at least.

haha we’re in this together! what major? i’m going for biology. and what school would you have to opt for if not NYU? i think i might go for BU, but i really don’t know =\ i love the city much more than boston. ughhhh this is so nerve-wracking, and its only been the first day since i found out. i might die of anxiety. if i do, i’d take my name of the waiting list hahah ;)

wow tahtah… biology here too lol and im considering BU as well.

tahtah and ismashcorner, can you tell me your stats? I have yet to receive my letter and I applied to Biology.
