Yeah… the tuition is overkill. Last year was 52% of the waitlist. For this year… I’d have to guess around 60%.

From Seattle- got waitlisted to stern on monday. I called nyu admissions and the councelor recommended that I send a letter of interest to express my continued interest eventhough Im on the wait list. She said it would “be helpful” to them. She told me not to send anymore documents such as report cards, recommendations, etc. hope this helps

Tuition is over kill, and I feel like the wait-lists won’t get a lot of money. So, even if I do get in, I’m probably not going to be able to afford it. And I’ve heard that they’re not really good with negotiating.

I was talking to a Stern counselor today and she said to send in report cards :/

Wouldn’t they have told us to send it in though…?

i doubt it’s required. i think the letter of interest is all that’s needed.

^ What is this letter of interest? Is it required? Does it improve your chances of getting higher on the waitlist?

D: I’m sorry if I sound ignorant, I just don’t really know whats going on.
I already reserved my spot on the waitlist, but don’t know what to do after.

i think mid year would be fine but report cards? i wouldn’t send them in

@zprophety

the letter of continued interest is not required, some people just send them to let the school know that they really want to go. that way they know who would actually enroll when they start choosing people off the list, it doesn’t necessarily improve your chances of getting in, but it does help. also if they really like your letter, the admissions people might favor you when they start voting for who to let in.

^ Is there a special requirements for this letter? Like a certain length?
Or do you just write a letter of any length on why you would like to go to NYU and then send it to their office of admission?
Thanks so much for responding by the way!
^_^;;

there arent any specific requirements since you dont have to write it, but it shouldnt be too long (like 1 page max) because you dont want the people reading it to get bored. i wrote one for one of my schools. basically, i just said i still really want to go and why. but more importantly, why they should choose you (mention new achievements like grades and volunteer work, what you could bring to the school/ why you’re unique… etc) good luck:)

sorry to sound ignorant, but for the letter, since NYU AO doesn’t really have an e-mail ( or do they?), should we just send it by mail?

Terribly sorry, 1 last question.
Does you know when we should turn in the letter of continued interest?
Like is there a certain deadline?

send it in asap, that would be best. before may 1st for sure. good uck!

So, I finally found wait-list numbers from NYU’s site.

[NYU > Office of Institutional Research and Program Evaluation > About Us](http://www.nyu.edu/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/cmd276/fact.book.data/submit_factbook2.pl?view=3&year=20083&cdspage=a&cdspage=b&cdspage=c&cdspage=h&cdspage=j)

If it doesn’t work, here’s the data table:

C2 Freshman wait-listed students (students who met admission requirements but whose final admission was contingent on space availability)

If yes, please answer the questions below for fall 2008 admissions:
Number of qualified applicants placed on waiting list 1864
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 1037
Number of wait-listed students admitted 543

(sorry for the weird spacing) so yay, it is indeed 52-ish%.

Hmm, did you guys mail the letter or email it?

i mailed it

I called again today, and the counselor said that there are no requirements, and I can send whatever I want to add to my application. This includs teacher recommendations, grades, letter of interest etc.

She also said I could email it, but I didnt think to ask what the email was. I assume its admissions@nyu.edu? does anyone know?

Who do we address the letter to? And is it for the specific program [Sterns for me] we applied to or the school in general? I’m not sure how NYU accepts from its waitlists (by program or everyone together) Thanks! :)

Stern counselor told me to send it to the undergraduate admissions processing center
