still deciding IF they’re going to tap the waitlist? oh dear.

does anyone know if nyu will call or email? if they call, there is a good chance i will either be in school or at tennis, and my grandma is the only one around and she only speaks chinese lol

and do they only contact you if you are accepted off the waitlist, or not taken off also gets contacted to?

they were very, very vague in the letter.

don’t worry, they’ll find some way of contacting you if you’re off the waitlist, i know that schools will email you as well if you miss their calls

I got waitlisted to Tisch for Dramatic Writing in April. Still haven’t heard from them. This is just getting frustrating now… I really hope I can get in but thing is there just doesn’t seem to be any movement. Wish at least 10 ppl would just give up their spots. goddamit. im getting white hairs because of this waitlist business.

Don’t get too stressed. DEcide on your best otion that you got accepted too/that you liked the best and go. If something opens up at NYU it will seem like a gift. But don’t wait and stress out about NYU’s waitlist. You can stay on the list but mentally move on. Think about the schools you got in. You can have fun and learn anywhere.

Some admissions counselor told me that they haven’t decided whether they’re gonna tap the waitlist yet…which is bad, bad news

She said that we should be hearing around NEXT week, ***fff

my heart is stuck on NYU.

@mochaicedlatte, don’t worry about it, nyu admissions has been pretty late in sending out acceptances, so maybe they were late in determining their yield too? i’m pretty sure a lot of people turned down nyu because of its cost…

I called today too, and the guy said (though he was a student, not adcom) that we should hear anytime between now and July. -.-

this wait is brutal.

it is! and imagine if we have to wait until july…

This is really frustrating. Shouldn’t they have a pretty good idea at this point on their current class size considering the deadline for accepted students was may 1st? Nyu admissions has been the worst in terms of communication and clarity so far out of all the schools ive dealt with this year

They said it would be by June 1 at the latest in the letter they originally sent out.

^ yep (i think june 4th actually but same thing). last year people started hearing by now though so a bit slower this year im guessing.

I phoned the admission office today and the lady said that waitlisted applicants should hear from them by May 15. If not, we should definitely phone them again.

So does that mean they’ve decided ro go to the waitlist this year? Because from what I’ve been hearing is that they are not even sure about that yet.

Hmm last year they they started notifying on the 5th and the percentage accepted from the WL was near 55%.

Not to be a pessimist, but if they’re taking at least a week longer then they may have adjusted their yield and will be taking far less this time.

If so many people are having trouble financially then it seems that they would take more people…? But who knows. It’s hard to not try to figure everything out, but in all honesty we won’t know anything for sure until we hear it from them. Needless to say, right when you guys hear tell us!!!

Hey guys,

I just gave up my spot (can’t afford it… very very very devastated but oh well) so it’s all yours! I hope all of you will get taken off! (:

Good luck!

I’m done with figuring these guys out. I called again, and they said that they’ll know IF they’re going to use the waitlist by the end of next week.

If its any help, I do know that last year, a friend of mine who was waitlisted to Stern heard back on the 8th of May (2009). He was accepted then. I also know that another friend called around the 20th of May last year and they said that they had stopped taking people of the waitlist to Stern.

The kid who was waitlisted and got accepted is a real close friend of mine. So I know for sure that he got contacted by a particular person from the admissions office who told my friend that he was accepted and asked him if he wanted to receive the NYU admitted students packet. She eventually reached him via email (I think she called him via phone, but he was away at another town at a wedding or something where he couldn’t answer it). So, you will somehow be reached if you are accepted.
