NYU Waitlist - 2010

"Hmm last year they they started notifying on the 5th and the percentage accepted from the WL was near 55%.

Not to be a pessimist, but if they’re taking at least a week longer then they may have adjusted their yield and will be taking far less this time. "

Or, it could be that they have a lower yield than last year and will be taking more, which is why it’s longer - more time to find more acceptees.

Don’t lose hope!

Okay, wait. Some people are saying this is normal cause nyu is late however some are saying nyu said “we might not even go to the waitlist.” is nyu just saying that or do you think it’s true?sounds pretty right cause why would they lie about that? So, basically that will also mean that they really have met their yield already right? But the only reason they haven’t decides for the waitlist ppl is bc nyu feels bad for them and kinda wants to admit some of them?? Lol Idk, hate to be negative but it doesn’t seem too bright

i really doubt nyu will admit people because they are sorry for them, their first priority is getting the yield that they want

and besides, who said that they were not going to the waitlist? they are still deciding whether to use it or not, so don’t give up yet!

sorry to be clear
when nyu said that they are still deciding whether to tap into their waitlist or not, it was STERN specific

Yeah, I second connieli92’s question, because I auditioned for Tisch.

okay, so connieli92 you were 1 out of 2 people who said the waitlist might get tapped (for Stern). there was another person who also talked of the potential waitlist tapping. Was that person also talking about Stern?

WHy don’t you guys go to home.nyu.edu and try to set up your log in and pw. supposedly, if you are in, you might be able to get ID and PW by putting in your info. I read from somewhere that someone tried it back in March and found out that she was in before she received the mail. Well, I also got waitlisted for Master’s in education… I don’t know if this is a popular major @ nyu but I am not expecting too much… Good luck everyone

My question to the adcom wasn’t any school specific. It was…general…

Yeah from what I understand is that they don’t know if they’re going to the wait list period regardless of what school you applied to. I also find it funny that the poster on the previous page just turned down his/her acceptance 10 days after the “deadline”. Maybe it’s the fact they haven’t heard from everyone thats causing the delay?

it was Stern specific? ohh but other people called in for other schools as well getting the same answer

@Sammy

That won’t work for Waitlisted people.

does anyone know that if we get waitlisted, will we be at disadvantage for housing, classes, financial aid etc? I enrolled at Rutgers and we already did our class schedules and placement tests, as well as housing and financial aid… yes, getting into nyu will be a very very happy moment (if i were to be accepted), but would this be slighted by the points mentioned above?

I don’t know why I’m speculating all this when I don’t even know if I’m taken off or not, but it is a point of consideration, and should be a topic of concern.

and for now, it truly is all speculation. I mean the adcoms are trying to be very vague, they keep telling us “one more week, we’ll know by next week” but they’ve been saying that since late march, so i mean we won’t really know until the notice arrives, and who knows when that’ll arrive (if it will even arrive), considering the adcoms have been so vague, as mentioned before.

I also think another reason is that every day they’re getting tons of calls about wait lists and the like (roughly 1000 were waitlisted two years ago), so i mean they’re trying to give the same info to everybody so as not to mislead anyone, so i think that also explains the lack of information on the adcom’s part.

we’d get last pick of housing i think, and since it’s nyu, we probably won’t get much financial aid, if any
i don’t think we’re at a disadvantage with classes however

I called them and they said we should know by tomorrow…?

^ Tomorrow? Saturday? My anxiety is over the topppp…

Yep. and I asked them how we would be notified and the connection got messed up…so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

no way omgg

i remember a long time ago when i called, they did mention that they would notify us by mid-may. so the above post does retain some credibility.

are they even open on saturdays?
