NYU Waitlist 2023

so who else out here is waitlisted??

Yes, waitlisted for Steinhardt

how do you know which college you got waitlisted for? mine just says i got waitlisted in general.

Well you applied to a certain college, correct? So each college has different acceptance %’s. I applied to Steinhardt so I assume I’m on the Steinhardt waitlist

According to an admissions officer i talked to they said people who are waitlisted are waitlisted from their top choice. Im waitlisted from stern.

okay cool, im waitlisted for steinhardt

@NWCA124 and @Oneiota, what majors did you list on your Steinhardt applications?

same, i applied for music business

Anyone else waitlisted to stern?

@NWCA124 , do you mind sharing your stats?

Waitlisted
Does anyone know how often they accept waitlisted students? NYU was my #1 but now I’m a bit discouraged

@tburns2019 Being realistic here, small chance. According to a bunch of sources (too many links to post here, so trust me), after all three applicant pools, in total they waitlist about 15%, and from that 15%, half say they want to stay on the waitlist. That comes out to a few thousand students. Last year they accepted a bit more than 300 form the waitlist (might be more, but at least 300), and the year before that, they accepted at least 100 (a bit more probably, but at least 100). So your odds are pretty slim, I recommend putting in a deposit before May 1st for another school. If you are lucky enough to be picked up from the waitlist, then you can switch over.

This is the first year they waitlisted off the ED pool though, isn’t it? Wonder if that will make a difference.

Where did u hear that?

Well for a start it’s never been mentioned in threads before, and there are now threads with people going “what is this actually” because they’ve never heard of it before, but more telling is last year’s info for counselors which hasn’t been updated yet and tells you the 4 outcomes of ED are admission, admission to alternate program, deferral, and denial. No waitlist.

Judging from these threads it seems the waitlists are basically for stern and Steinhardt.

Dogeater, I agree. The best thing to do is move on as if you were denied and if by a stroke of luck you come off the waitlist so be it
