Applied - ED 2

Good luck!! My daughter applied RD (super duper reach lol) so I assume her decision will be the very end of March.

My daughter was waitlisted too from ED2. She applied to Steinhardt. I believe they said after May 1 and as late as August 1

Son was waitlisted. We were actually pleasantly surprised given that he had a hard no from BU just this weekend.
Advice welcome.

Three boys in northeastern public schools, top of their classes (one NJ, one NY, one CT)
SAT scores were 1600, 1540, and 1580, respectively. All have excellent ECs and recommendations; all are AP scholars with distinction and took the most challenging courses offered by their school and excelled in all of them, all are National Merit Finalists, and two are Presidential Scholar nominees. They each also earned national awards, one a national science award, another for science research, and another published an academic paper largely celebrated in the field. It didn’t make a difference. All three are currently waitlisted almost everywhere they’ve applied, except their flagship state university in each of their respective states. One is an accomplished musician, and the other two are varsity athletes and team captains, but neither is quite good enough for D-1 NCAA-level play. All have GPAs well above a 4.0 because all of their coursework was at the A to A+ level, and all of their courses were honors and AP courses. They all are involved community members and thoughtful and terrific kids.

On the letter, they said: "If you accept a place on the waitlist, you will receive an email in early May 2023 which will provide an update on NYU’s planned waitlist activity. "

But looking from the NYU 2026 Group, they got a decision in June.

If anyone knows the actual dates, lmk if I’m wrong.

What is happening? I remember when my oldest apply for college NYU was kind of a safety. Now, with an acceptance rate of 8%, it has become an Ivy so to speak. Oh well!

Any updates?

Nothing here. I assume there won’t be anything until after May 1?

Good luck to her friend!!! I can’t tell if it’s good or not, but hoping for the best🤞🏾

I can tell you all from last year that NYU basically had two waves to let people off the waitlist. The first was May 2nd and the second was May 5th. After the first wave, I really didn’t think my daughter had a chance but we were pleasantly surprised when she heard Friday afternoon - May 5th. She was offered a spring start, which actually worked out for the best. She got a nice break, worked several jobs since she was giving up a big scholarship and got to move into the brand new Paulson building, which opened the week she started. Hope this info is helpful!
