NYU work and study?

I was just admitted to NYU, and I know the tuition fee of NYU is very expensive. I didnt apply for financial aid at first so there is no possibility for me to get it the first year. So i want to know is there any on-campus job for NYU students/freshmen, and how do i apply?

How much aid do you need realistically? Most on-campus employment functions to provide students with spending money and assist with minor (very minor) gaps in financial aid.

I actually dont need alot. I’m just hoping i can make the money that is enough for me to use so that i dont have to ask my family for money for my daily uses

Depending on how much you work, you could get enough to help you get by. You want to be careful that you don’t work TOO much, though. Getting a job where you make more than minimum wage usually helps in this endeavor because you’ll be able to work less and still make a decent amount of money.

I’ll share my on-campus earnings with you (I have another job off-campus on the weekends and summer, but I added the on-campus job during the week last year to help directly with my school expenses) :

In the Fall of 2013 I worked around 7 or 8 hours a week at $9 an hour and made about $1000 for the semester. In 2014 I made a total of $3200 by working around 13 hours a week in the winter of 2014 and around 12 hours this past fall at $10 an hour. Sometimes I’d work less if I had exams (another perk of an on-campus job. They understand these things), but in all, it didn’t take too much of my time.

So, that’s just an idea for you to see what kind of money you could make even just by working a little bit on-campus. An extra $1000 or $1600 in your pocket each semester definitely helps, and you could even work more than that to make more money. Like I mentioned, I have a steady off-campus job to supplement my on-campus job, so that makes me feel a lot more well-off. But, you might find that you won’t be able to work that much, so it’s all a balance. Start with baby steps and keep increasing your load until you find a level that works for you.

Good luck!

oh ok thanks! It helps alot!
