NYU World History

Hi guys, Excuse the following ramble. I'm trying to work things out in my head and would appreciate any advice or thoughts! I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the NYU History department? I was just accepted this morning via email to the MA program in World History.

On the other end, I applied spur of the moment to SAIS, where I was also accepted. I know, I know, they are totally different programs so now I'm not sure how to make this decision. I'm relatively sure that my long term goal is a Phd and to teach, and I think NYU is probably the better equipped program for that end. However, I understand that SAIS is really a top program and I would probably be stupid to pass up the opportunity. I understand many do go on to pursue a Phd from there as well.

I guess my question (finally, I know) is if anyone has dealt with the NYU History department before. I hear a lot of people complaining about the bureaucracy at NYU, and I'm wondering whether that extends to the individual departments. How was your experience there?

I would suggest checking out NYU's LiveJournal community. It's very active and people are really helpful.
