Nyu

For those of you at NYU how hard is it to transfer to Stern from the college? I know it is quite a bit easier to get into the college than Stern, (and I am mostly sure that I want to study business) and want to if possible transfer after a year or two?

I know its kinda back-dooring it but it should work right?

one of my friends actually did this after his freshman year. transferred from cas to stern. his college advisor even told him he didn't have much of a chance, and so did a lot of other people, but he got in. let's just say it's quite competitive..

If you're planning to do that, I think you should reach for the stars and try to transfer into Wharton. But Stern's a great school too.

It is backdooring and it may or may not work.

Hello. I'm currently a Sternie at NYU. It's a common thought around here that transferring into Stern from another school at NYU, like CAS, is EXTREMELY difficult. I honestly wouldn't gamble, unless you'd be happy with an Econ. degree should everything not work out. Here's my advice: If you want to really go into business for undergrad, go to a business school. If, however, you aren't sure about your major, go to CAS (just don't get your hopes up). NYU is a fantastic school, just living in NYC would give you quite the business experience. =) oh, and I've heard transferring from another COLLEGE into Stern is easier than transferring within (I know, sounds weird)... just something interesting you might like to consider

i met a person who did it, while I was attending the summer program at NYU. He had a 3.8 gpa and was very smart. he survived on bloomberg radio and WSJ. He was very well qualified. if you try, you will be taking a gamble where the odds are against you.

Well my advisor said very few people get into Stern from CAS especially as freshmen, but I just got my internal transfer decision, and I don't consider myself an exceptional student...

so I don't think it's THAT hard
