I'm currently a Junior in CA, and I am worried about my chances of getting into NYU. I am ranked number 2/500 in my class, and have a 4.0 weighted GPA (all A's since Freshman year). I took the SAT only once in March and scored a 1900, and plan on taking it again in a couple weeks, and based on my practice tests, I plan on getting around a 2000. I plan on applying Pre-Law, and have had an internship at a law firm a couple of summers ago, and am part of my school's Mock Trial Team. Please let me know what you think, and what I should do to improve my resume!

First question: Can you afford NYU? Do you know how much it costs? They aren’t know for providing good financial aid. Your score of 1900 is not competitive. Have you researched current employment trends in law?

Even a 2000 would not be competative.
A 2100+ is more typical for NYU.
Also your GPA and class rank will be looked at skeptically since your’re at the top of the class and yet have a sub 2000 SAT.

NYU actually isn’t THAT hard to get into. I know someone who had a 3.3 GPA and a 1600 on the SAT with a killer essay and she got in. But, the financial aid is horrendous so she didn’t go.
