where should i go to maximize my chances of transferring to NYU?

my choices are

san francisco state university

or...

a california community college.

are my chances really with the options i have? who has priority when trying to transfer to new york university? anybody know/wanna help me out here?

come on people. somebody must know! lol

Probably SFSU because it's an actual university, but that is assuming you get the same grades, extracurriculars, etc. at both. And I can't help anymore because I know so little about the NYU transfer process.

I'd go with the CCC just because it'll be easier on you. People do get into NYU from community colleges; there was one girl on here who got in with a 3.8 from a CCC. If you're trying to get into Stern, however, then I don't think going to a CC is your best option. You'll have trouble doing that from anywhere.

thanks guys...

anyone else?

buuuuuuuuuump

I'd so to go to the University. I don't know how CCs work in California, but I think you'll develop more skills that'd prepare you for NYU at the university, even if it isn't too well established. You'd also have more chances to be involved at the university, which would help your app. to transfer. If you're trying to get into Stern, I'd say definitely go to the university for the reasons already mentioned. Good luck!

thanks. i just wish NYU's website would be more helpful for transfers! ugh, its as if they don't even want transfers. maybe thats why they're website is so useless and vague = (

I would go (am going) to a CCC. CCC are designed for people to transfer where as SFSU is for people to graduate with a 4 year degree.

You can also write somewhere in your personal statement about how you gave up a 4-year college just for a chance to go to NYU. I go to a california community college and I will be attending West Point this summer. I was acutally selected over a few people in my ROTC program who not only went to Santa Clara University and but also had scholarships. Preformance and desire matter more than the school- at least for West Point. I hope NYU is the same.

The UC system gives priority to those in CCC. People transferring from other UCs are at the bottom.

Hope to see more Californians in New York ! Represent!

Good Luck.

haha, thanks man. i guess everyone is saying different things. i guess i'll have to talk to NYU. they're really ****ing me off just bc they're website is so useless/confusing = (

thanks everyone

I am a prospective transfer to NYU Stern and I go to CCC right now. They consider all schools equally (according to their transfer message board). A gpa at cc is same as gpa at a bigger university in their eyes.

NYU if you can afford it...
