I'm applying to NYU for early decision...
to be honest with you guys..
my GPA and SAT is not that great..
But other people got in with a 3.1/4.0
and SAT wasn't that great.
But rather talking about other people.
I'll talk about my information..

As you can see I don't meet the requirements
for NYU. On the other hand, my essays,
teacher reccomendations, resume are outstanding.
I have approximately.. 800-900 service hours.
and my work experience is outstanding.
Last but not least. I believe my essay and reccomendations
are just off the hook. They are just good.
I believe even though you don't meet the requirments
for SAT and GPA but you other factors are just too
good. I might have a good chance to get accepted.

My plan is to put my major as Political Science because
I've heard they are easy with the Arts and Science major
cateogory. And this school has been my dream school
for the past year..

I'll be looking forward to some people's response~ ;)

I am not sure if they have a separate admissions procedure but there is the part of nyu which is a two year program from which you transfer to other NYU schools. This is intended for "weaker" applicants with still great promise. I am just not sure if you can apply directly, or if you get "put there" if yhou apply during regular application process to another school.

My daughter is there. Great place for proactive people.

I think indeed your stats are low but its great you have extras. I think with your extras you may have a shot, but honestly I doubt it because there are so many applicants for NYU. I too want to attend NYU really badly, its my dream school as well.

actually my daughter is in the honors program of arts and sciences. I just mentioned the two year program for anyone who wants to be at NYU, wants a NYU degree, wants NYU classes but needs to start out in a different way. She thinks it is a terrific option and has recommended it to people she knows.

Top Tier #37 USNWR acceptance rate was 35% but I look for that to drop. I hope you are a good student and don't need lots of money to attend. Also....NYC is a blast, college doesn't get much better than this place.

I really do not know a lot about it. My daughter is not in it, she is in regular CAS. But..I know of a really smart, qualified girl from a great high school who did not get into regular NYU who is in this section. I think they kick promising yet not quite there with highest stat applicants into this area. My daughter who is at NYU says that there are many many kids she knows who are a part of this. Personally, if I had a child who wanted to be at NYU, who wanted to be in the city and there, and could not get in otherwise given crazy high standards these days, I would have no problem with her doing this program. I would ask the admissions office there for specifics.

thanks alot, I'll have to look into that. Ive been looking at the NYU website but I cant find much about the general studies. Im wondering what kinds of stats a person must have to be admitted

look at the reports of NYU
either in the us news world report or in the princeton review book best 357 colleges
and look at how they consider admission factors...

relative importance of specific academic factors in academic decisions...
essay: important
extracurricular activities: important
character/personal qualities: important
recommendations: important
class rank: important
secondary school record/GPA: very important
standardized test scores: very important

so you see, the only two things that NYU considers to be very important are secondary school record and standardized test scores. i mean, it seems like you're gonna be applying there regardless of what we say, so i urge you to keep trying... but those are just the facts

i have 6701 hours of community service
great reccomendations and essays.
On the other hand my GPA is increasing every year
3.0→3.5→3.75→ ?
That is determined this year.. My ultimate goal is to
get a 4.0. And of course my SAT score 1550/2400.
As you can see my SAT is a little shaky
but my recs and the community service HOURS
can save me.. what do you guys think?

man i did horrible on my verbal section
so im gonna use my old sat verbal score
and use my new math and writing score
since they take the highest section score
from either OLD or NEW..
I really wanna go to NYU...
