Got an invite today too!
I also received mine last night! Wow it’s such a surprise since I thought I wasn’t going to make the cut. As for my stats, I’m from a Japanese high school with a 4.0, 1530 on the SAT and 770’s on my subjects. My extracurriculars were super weak though, the only thing worth talking about were my local math competitions :S…
Received the invitation last night, exactly 20 days before the CW >:D< Sent my application during the very last days of December, the stats are not so high tho, so I’m really surprised to find out that I’m invited.
Everyone has to do a writing assignment, right? :(( So tired of writing essay :((
UAE Resident here. Received my March invite yesterday xD
Omg got an invite to the march candidate weekend cant believe it I literally thought I had zero chance of an invite!! So excited to meet everyone in a few weeks
Congrats to you guys!! I’m so happy for you
@maceyt Can you post your stats here? Or PM me? If you don’t mind that is.
Really want to know my chances
So this is the last batch of sent invites, right?
I have just emailed them asking whether they have sent out all the invites…will let you know when they reply
To everyone who is in this discussion: getting an invitation to candidate weekend, or getting admitted to any elite college, is much more than just a bunch of numbers — why don’t you all get that? Stats do not represent your likelihood of getting accepted; they are simply RESULTS of the holistic admissions process. If for some reason your scores and/or grades are low, but your personal qualities and your teacher recommendations are exceptional, you might get admitted. Stop obsessing over numbers; we’re much more than that.
@tommakesfilms if that is directed towards me, and I think it is, I would like to make it clear that by stats I did not simply mean the person’s SAT/ACT scores. I wanted to know, along with his scores, his extracurriculars or other things peculiar to him. I wanted to know about the teachers he took recommendations from and not how he would rate those recommendations.
I don’t obsess over numbers, that is why I am applying to Liberal Arts Colleges in the first place. I, too, am an advocate of a holistic approach to admission and I only wanted to learn more about the candidate who got accepted into my dream school.
@thehairbender Even reading these “subjective stats” as they’re called may do you harm more than good.
Let’s take this example: assume, hypothetically, that two students are identical, but one comes from the US while the other comes from a developing country. It is more likely that the student coming from the developing country is regarded more highly because he/she most probably CREATED opportunities for himself/herself while the US student simply did what was expected of him/her in the community.
This is true the other way around. If a student took IB classes because he/she had an IB school ten minutes away from home while another student could not because IB schools aren’t available in his/her area, that doesn’t mean that they’ll prefer the first over the second, because they have a different set of circumstances.
There are too many variables to take into consideration: teacher recommendations, ethnicity, location, parents’ educational background, any additional information provided, school grades, rigor of curriculum, test scores, extracurriculars, etc.
I am not attacking you or anyone else, and I know it can be somewhat reassuring to read stats and see how much you have a chance, but it may falsely put your hopes up or down. Each person is different – the only way you’ll know if you’ll get in is if you apply.
Good luck!

Someone made an unofficial whatsapp chat groups for the RD CW II invitees. Join it if you guys want. See you all in March.
Does anyone know whether they stopped sending invitations or not?
Guys, any news on invitations? Btw, how does the email look?
Do they accept people without inviting them to candidate weekend?
@hihi02 Sadly, this doesn’t happen.
How does candidate weekend work exactly? Do they send an email to the applicants school asking for nominees or do they get in touch with the student directly?
Hi guys, does anyone know whether NYUAD notify you if you are not invited to CW? When is the last announcement of the CW invitation for March? Is it before the 25th of Feb? Has anyone from New Zealand recieved the invitation yet?
Cheers,
P/s: i lose all hopes now…
Any news?
