NYUs average sat score

Me too!! I love languages

I am a native Russian speaker and I like to think I speak Spanish fluently (have studied it in high school and studied abroad in Barcelona)

And I am currently trying to teach myself French

I really want to be able to read French literature in the original and I want to perfect my Russian

I hope we both get in and we can hang out and practice all our languages together!

My best friend speaks Italian so every weekend I'm watching Italian movies and listening to Italian music on my iPod :)

i live in NYC. i applied to nyu and fordham.. looking to get into one. i am almost certain fordham will take me and i already have my safetlyschools ready. good luck!

Last2AcntsBanned, where'd you get those numbers? I think an 1100-1200s range for GSP is a low estimate. I personally knew a bunch of kids last year with 1300's who were GSPed and based on this messageboard there have been a few this year who've had the same thing happen to them. I've been trying to find a range for SCPS everywhere since I applied as a transfer for Sports Management, so just wondering where you got your info from...thanks!

lets say if I have a 1300 on the SAT it wouldnt really matter if it is low because other stuff can back you up. If my GPA is like a 3.5 and I have taken many AP and honor classes, I have alot of extracirrucular activities, would that mean I still have a chance to get in even with around a 1300 on the SAT

3.5 gpa is also below the average, but its generally class rank that matters..you're going to either be in a very competitive school or be in top 10% of class. Honestly, everyone has taken alot of AP and honors class and EC's nowadays, you're really going to need more to make you stand out (real leadership positions and awards maybe, but even more than that probably). This is not to say that you don't have a chance, but its not that great.

I got into Steinhardt with 3.5 unweighted, 1870 SATI, 1230 Cr + Math

im only a sophmore in high school and im trying to get ready for college so can someone tell me what a secondary school record is and how to calcuate class rank

secondary school record is just your hs transcript....it has your quarter grades and classes taken, etc
ask your guidance counselor for your class rank

I had no idea Stern was this competitive, number-wise. Very shocking; I was counting NYU to be a relative "safety", I guess not!

Out of curiousity, is active legacy (double) factored significantly into Stern (NYU in general) admissions process?

It's not significant, but it can be a tie-breaker.

i got into CAS early decision with a 1420/2100. i think its a little harder for regular decision...

I got into CAS with a 1250/1810 and a 27 on my ACT. I was ranked in the top 5 at my school though, but it should give other people hope.

Oh finally~ someone has applied the same major~

My native language is chinese mandarin, and my dad was a little bit frustrated w/ me when i informed him that i'm going to major in romance languages... lol, but later he yields and acquiesces.

I took spanish 4 last year, and this year i'm taking french 5
although i'm really weak with italian and portuguese (dunno romanian at all :P)
still I really <3 this major!!
seems that are plenty of opportunities to study abroad in NYU, ~~
also planning a double major with math or econ

i wonder what are the graduation requirements for romance languages major ..? it's even hardly mentioned on the website, and i guess i have to contact the faculty and ask some questions..

yes, i plan on the same major
not sure if i'll get in, or if i'll even go
i'm really into mcgill right now
