I know this has been discussed before for ED 2018 and the general consensus is that only competitive applicants get interviewed, but still, RD could be different.

Are only the competitive applicants interviewed for NYUSH? The website says yes, but the email (the interview request email) says no (all applicants get interviewed via skype, supposedly), and the only motive I could see for the NYU admissions office doing this is that they don't want to get us too confident of getting that acceptance letter this April.

Would appreciate any feedback from the NYUSH ED/2017 folks. The 20 or so days going into April 1 are going to be rather tense in any case though. :)

Nope, not everyone gets an interview and I specifically know people from the EDI pool who weren’t invited for an interview. It’s a good thing you got one and here’s a tip, take it or leave it, it’s not a formal interview, more like a long conversation so don’t hesitate to show your interest in the school and the city because they get a LOT of applicantions and they’re looking for people who are ready for the amazing experience that NYUSH will provide. So as long as you show that you’re a good fit and not a murderer or a serial killer, you should be okay.
Good luck! :)

Thanks Anuragr!

I’m actually done with the interview, and it went quite well. I wasn’t able to say all of the things I wanted to say, but I didn’t make any blunders either.

It’s just that I’m having all this pre-decision date stress in my head, particularly because some people I know got likely letters already.

During my interview (about a month ago) my interviewer said that only competitive applicants are interviewed… good luck!

The phrase “all applicants get interviewed via skype” in your email simply means that all those applicants who are interviewed at all do that via skype, not eg. through a meeting with an alumnus (obviously impossible) or any other representant of the school. Nonetheless, only the competitive applicants get interviewed.
Good luck and I hope to see you on campus in August :)
