I usually chance back so feel free to live the link to ur thread :)

Youre sat scores are within range for NYU and it is good that you have teken several ap classes and done well, but as previously stated, you’re gpa is very low.

However, I have the same problem at my school. I have always taken honors classes, I took 1 AP class junior year and 4 senior year. However, because I chose to challenge myself, my GPA and clas rank are lower than that of those who have never taken an honors class in their life and get straight As. NYU also might take that into consideration, but who knows. 37% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74- in your range- which is the highest percentage.

I also plan on applying to Stern, but believe I am really lacking in extracurriculars.

GPA: UW-3.79
ACT: Composite 32, Reading 28, English 31, Science 33, Math 35
Class Rank: School doesn’t rank
AP Courses: Calc AB (5), AP Stats (5), Calc BC, Literature and Composition, and Physics B (The final three are all senior year, but I do plan on testing)
Dual Enrollment: Psychology course at Michigan State senior year Fall Semester, Computer Programming Course at Michigan State senior year Spring Semester

Extracurriculars: Water Polo (club)- 10,11,12 (Co-Captain Junior and Senior years)
Varsity Swimming- 10,11,12 (Co-Captain Senior Year)
Baseball- 9,10
(sadly, this is it)

I’m worried that although my test scores, GPA, and course load are all solid, my lack of a laundry list of extracurriculars will destroy my chances.

I’d be happy to chance anybody back, just know that I’m most likely as oblivious as the normal high school senior.

Everything looks great, but your GPA is low. Please put up a class rank or explain that your school grades harshly. Other than that, it’s a match.

1390 SAT is g00d/very good for NYU. Although 640 CR is below average. Ap’s and honors is good. Ec’s are eeh. GPA is terribly low for NYU- 3.4 is gonna kill you. To be honest, i’de say it’s a reach. I know ppl that got in with ridiculous gpa -4.0- and low sat -1900ish- and ppl who got in with ridicilous sat- 1530- and low gpa, but you’re stuck with low gpa, and i dont think ur sat is high enough to cancel it out.

thanks guys
yes i go to a very competitive highschool in california its ranked on the top 50 public schools in the country so hopefully that will help me out a little.

Heyy your uw GPA is honestly a tad bit low but coming from a competitive public school in cali they should understand… as far as test scores go and ec’s (especially the music? Carnatic I am assuming? because I play carnatic violin as well!) you should have good chances I would say a solid match and the worst case scenario a high match to low reach… Stern is a tricky school to get into so make sure you show as much interest as you can and make sure your recs are from teachers who know you are interested in business and also make sure you make some sort connection to your business/finance interest in your essays! I see a bright future for you! Good Luck!

thank u so much…ur comment means so much to me…it feels so good for someone to say something positive…i reallly hope i can get in…crossing fingers
