Now, being a private candidate means I’m not going to a school right now. I’m self studying and going to a few coaching centers/tutors to get help with the academics. We don’t really have a registered homeschool system in my country. I will be giving my exams from british council. Okay so, for extracurriculars and volunteer work that I’m interested in,I’m doing those outside. Since I’m not directly linked to a school, hence no teachers know me. Will I be at a disadvantage when applying to universities in the US? I wanna apply to a few of the ivy leagues, University of Chicago, Stanford, mostly top tier private universities. And I don’t know who to get recommendation letters from since I don’t have a school teacher. I just want to know if I’ll be treated the same way as a student that goes to a school and gets the required grades, does extracurriculars and gets the grades for SAT/ACT required for top tiers unis, and someone who is a private candidate but does the same but go to a school. If I’m at a disadvantage for being a private candidate then… well idk what I’ll do. I don’t have anyone to give me advice soo I’m turning to you guys here. Also, I’ll be joining a school for my A levels, but that’s two years later. After I’m done with high school my transcript will have the final O level grades, AS level grades and A level predictions( because I’ll join a school during A level). But I won’t have any freshman year grades as o level is prepped during freshman and sophomore year and given during end of the sophomore year. So will that be an issue too?
This is such a long question but whoever read to the bottom and gave me advice… I appreciate you.
