O-Levels & A-Levels Through CIE or Edexcel

I would be interested in knowing if anyone is persuing their education through writing exams for O-Levels & A-Levels as a Private Candidate? Most Universities regard these qualifications as credible entry criterion.

Most of us here in the US need to understand the terminology you are using. Can you help us?

I don’t know much about this. My daughter is currently studying at Oxford for two terms, but her home university is in the US. There is some debate about this, but in my opinion, in the US, standardized tests (SATS, etc.) establish your bone fides in university admissions. I should ask her to try to seek out other home schoolers at Oxford to help figure out how it works over there.
That said, I have no idea how self-study is treated in the UK. I do have the impression that “education otherwise” (home schooling under UK law?) does not have the same suspect status that it does, say, in Germany.
A home schooling family here in the US was this year granted political asylum from Germany.
