everyone keep posting about the program as I was considering it but don’t think its appropriate right now for my child. I do want to put a warning out about a horrible program that is advertised as giving lifeskills to asperger and adhd kids in Florida called New Directions for Young Adults in Deerfield Beach. Everything about it is untrue and very unsafe. We tried it and left because they don’t do what they advertise. The combine asperger kids with people of all ages overcoming serious addictions.

Hi, I read your post with great interest being that I was contemplating this program possibly and also need a lot of socializiation for my daughter. She will not be happy if its just help with college work. I also was interested in your perspectives on the Gersh Program in Buffalo. How can I reach you privately?

does she still go to this program and how did it work out

anyone try their program and if so what was it like??

We’re considering the Oasis program at Pace for our Aspie son, Fall 2014.
How are things going there?

Pace program has been working (lately) for my daughter. So much depends on the coach and his/her abilities to inspire your kid. So if the coach doesn’t work out, then advocate for someone else. Coach role ranges from assistance with registration, organization of work, dorm life issues, parent communication, selection of classes. Program is more “systematized” and it is growing. Advantages of the program are that it has a “home base” at Pace and that they maintain communication with the parents, which is different from the situation at a typical college disabilities office in the which the student must do all the self-advocacy and communication. Dianne Zager is still greatly missed by those who knew her.

I just heard about the OASIS program at Pace, and am interested in it for my son. He is currently in Davie FL with CLE attending Broward College. The school part is fine, but he isn’t engaging socially, lives alone and is very isolated. He was happy at his boarding high school where he lived in dorms with other Aspergers and NLD kids.
Would be interested in talking to other’s who have kids at Pace, and also hearing about other college programs that might work for my son.
thanks!

Pace has the OASIS Program, Iona College has the CAPS Porgram and Adelphi has a program for people with Asperger’s.
