As a parent of a current senior at Oberlin, I’ve had an opportunity to get to know Oberlin and Oberlin students. It is a wonderful school combining a challenging intellectual atmosphere with a world-class music program. Will the campus win an award for most beautiful campus with the best weather? No. But the school is alive with engaged students. The truth is, weather and landscaping are less important than feeling challenged and finding others who share your pursuits. There are many wonderful places to go to college, and many students would be happy at any number of them. However, my husband and I appreciate Oberlin for its history of challenging not only its students, but also social norms. And we also appreciate the difference it has made for our son.
