Hi everyone! I have recently submitted my Early Decision app to Oberlin and have been stressing out since then. I was confident that I would be accepted but since then, I have had some serious doubts. When replying to this, be honest and tell me what you really think.
Early DecisionApp:
GPA- 3.64 unweighted, 5.54 weighted
Rank-top 10%
Athlete (volleyball, have already established a connection with the coach)
Interview- went really well, had an extensive talk on the Lalo Celli Concerto
Visited campus twice
ACT Scholar
Illinois State Scholar
ACT- 30 ( 34 English, 33 Reading, 29 science, 25 math)
Extracurriculars- chamber Orchestra (all years, top orchestra), varsity track (1 year), varsity volleyball (2 years of varsity, 2 years as freshman/sophomore), National Honor Society, marching band (baton twirler)
I took 2 AP tests (US history and English Language) and scored a 4 on each
My senior year schedule is all honors and AP, including an honors independant study on the history of the conflict between science and religion
My essays are pretty darn good, my teacher recommendations were both good, one of them was really quite excellent
I am applying as a biology major with the intention to be on a pre-med track
My personal statement included me stating that I will be beginning my college career with a new mindset and that I know that I am capable of succeeding at Oberlin
My grades have been trending upwards.
Thank you so much for reading!

Hi Jillian86! While it’s probably not the answer you’re hoping for, I’m going to direct you to this Oberlin blog post from a few years ago that still rings true: [“What are my chances?”](<a href=“http://blogs.oberlin.edu/applying/selection_process/what_are_my_cha.shtml]"What”>http://blogs.oberlin.edu/applying/selection_process/what_are_my_cha.shtml)
