Oberlin College RD Admission Thread

March 20th and not a peep. Post any info here please :)

Oberlin is one of the last colleges to send a letter. Feels like a long wait. Does anyone know when the RD admission letters were sent last year?

Last year the notification was send on Mar.26, so I infer it could be one or two days earlier than Ivy Day

@akiddoc how were you notified?

It was my daughter. By email yesterday afternoon.

@akkidoc Was that an early write acceptance ?
I don’t think it is officially final . Some colleges have tendency to give a wink to their best candidates early and considering your D’s stats and FC , it seems Oberlin longed to attract her.

aaaaahhhhh March 24th and haven’t heard anything. I live in Houston, Texas. I’m DYING to know!!!

I’ve been obsessively refreshing my email for the past few days. Oberlin is the last school I really care about. Is there any way to check the status of my app?

Grrrrrr. Nothing in our mailbox today either. How much longer?

I’m going insane refreshing my email! Any new updates on when the decision will be coming out? I really hope it’s before April 1st! I can’t wait that long!

OMG HI PEOPLE! Don’t you think that if akiddoc already got an email, they must’ve made their final decisions and mailed the snail mail things by now and we just have to wait for them to arrive? They wouldn’t send out an email before their decisions were final…I think…
Also, have you guys been reading those blog posts from the admissions office of Oberlin? They kept people up-to-date about the state of the decisions in 2010 and a couple other years…I have been desperately checking to see if they’re posting anything about this year’s decisions but it doesn’t seem like it :(

My daughter also received an email on Friday 21st March saying she has been accepted to Oberlin. Do not worry if if you have not received an email. My daughter is a URM, and the email included an invite to a Multicultural Visit Program that she has to reply to by tomorrow. I think that is why some people have received emails and others have not. It did say in the email that an official letter of acceptance is in the mail, so I would think that everyone will know in a day or two. Good luck to everyone!

Thanks for the helpful info, 1hpfulparent! I’ve been biting my nails since akiddoc’s post, too!

I figured over the weekend it must be the “under represented minority” thing. Admitted to Pomona today. I’m not sure whether she will consider Oberlin at this point.

Conservatory email just came out today. Still waiting on Arts and Sciences…

will it be an email or a snail mail?

I was under the impression it would be snail mail.

Just got an email that status can be viewed online (I’m too afraid to look ha)

My D accepted!
