My daughter is waiting anxiously…has anyone heard anything yet?
My daughter is too! So many of her friends have heard from their ED or EA schools already so she’s getting anxious for sure. She emailed her admissions rep but didn’t get a specific decision date,so I’m not sure if they will release on the 15th or not.
We will find out on the 15th- I am waiting extremely anxiously!
@walkbanx did they confirm? When my daughter asked they didn’t confirm that Dec 15 was the date so just wondering.
@LMC9902 https://new.oberlin.edu/arts-and-sciences/admissions/first-year-applicant/deadlines.dot Says December 15 here!
i called the admissions office today and they confirmed that it would be by the 15th. so tough to wait…my daughter’s twin has already been accepted early so this is especially hard! good luck to all!
Thanks for confirming! Best of luck to all!
Yes! Anxiously waiting too! Good luck to all!
I’m curious to know what other schools Oberlin hopefuls have on their lists.
@radioflyer My daughter is waiting on EA for Colorado College, UMD, Dickinson, Knox and has also applied to Grinnell by their early scholarship deadline. If ED doesn’t work out she has several others she’s ready to send as well - Bates and Hamilton are two. Hamilton is her second from top and would be an ED2.
How about your daughter?
Oberlin is my ED, and in all honesty, the only school on my list I want to go to.
Also on list:
Williams
Bard
Emerson
Goucher
Skidmore
Macalaster
@LMC9902 My daughter applied EA to Bennington, Bard and Hampshire, and the other schools on her list are Sarah Lawrence, Smith and Skidmore. But she feels very strongly about wanting Oberlin. It’s going to be a long week!
Yes @walkbanx and @radioflyer it sounds like both of you are similar to my daughter - she has reluctant second choices but will be very upset if she hears bad news from Oberlin!
@LMC9902 it 's been great but also harder here because my daughter’s twin brother was just accepted ED to Hampshire. Very exciting, but also harder now to wait
My D, who just informed me that she has less than 72 hours left to wait, has also applied EA to Lewis and Clark, and RD to Grinnell and Macalester. The rest of her list includes Smith, Mount Holyoke, Skidmore, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Vassar, Middlebury, and Bates.
Lots of overlaps on these lists!
My daughter was thinking about Hampshire earlier in the process - they have some great offerings! Now that she has decided that Oberlin is her first choice I know she’ll be really upset if she doesn’t get in. I have been trying to prepare her in case that happens because she has really developed a relationship with her admissions person and is already picturing herself there next fall.
@Hellofagal @LMC9902 @walkbanx this is going to be a loooong 72 hours wonderful lists with many great options! My daughter is very involved in theater and social justice issues, and also interested in psychology. How about everyone else?
@radioflyer My daughter is very involved in theater (playwriting, acting and technical) and right now is planning to major in creative writing and east asian studies (Japanese). Of course I told her to keep an open mind but I’m pretty sure math and science won’t be likely choices of a major for her!
@radioflyer My D is involved with dance, spoken word, and teaches/coaches several things. She’d like to continue dancing and hopes to major in the natural sciences or psychology.
Did I see, in another thread, that you are a Hampshire alum?
@LMC9902 and @Hellofagal both of your D’s sound so multifaceted and interesting! And yes, I went to Hampshire. A million years ago
