I got accepted today!

Congratulations !
By the way, how were you notified ?

I got a very very very nice email sent about an hour ago.

An e-mail ? Oberlin must have been extremely eager to tell you the news. :)

I'm an international student, so it would've taken ages for the mail to get here.

Although, they did say: "A formal letter of admission will soon arrive in the post, but we wanted to let you know the good news as quickly as possible."

I was waitlisted:

I'm a bit disappointed, I kind of expected to be accepted; however, I'm not planning on attending a university in the U.S anymore. I'm located in Australia, and will likely be attending UMelbourne or Monash as I will only pay several thousand dollars Australian per year(maybe 4,000-5,000 USD) instead of whatever astronomical amount I would have to in the U.S. But anyways besides Oberlin I applied to:
Boston College
Boston University
Bates
Bard
Bowdoin
UChicago
UMass
Amherst
Colby
Brandeis

Do I have to post my stats? >.<

Out of curiosity, what are they?

No big difference. I sent in supplementary writing samples, wrote a poem about Oberlin, and I guess my essays were good.

Acknowledging that you sent those supplementary items to Oberlin, I can figure you why they wanted to notify you of the acceptance 'as quickly as possible' . :)

They'd been in touch with me before, the adofficer who read my application emailed me saying she enjoyed reading it, she also talked to me on PM in the international applicants chat, and a couple of days before the acceptance email, I got an email about my financial aid app - asking for clarification. :).

Then the acceptance got clearer and clearer for you. If I had been you, and if it had turned out you were not admitted, I would have died of shock. ;)
But it seems Oberlin is not your most favourite college, is it ?

^
They sent me an email stating that I was placed on the waitlist and to respond if I'm interested in being included. I doubt I will as I no longer have plans to attend an American university. Though I'll give it some thought as I may end up wanting to go-- although I doubt it.

craig134, if you still want to get into Oberlin, I would suggest that you send several e-mails to Oberlin to express your interest.

I was pretty sure too :).

OBerlin is one of my favourite colleges. I applied only to colleges I was totally in love with. If you go over to International Students, and The Indian Thread, you'll see how excited I am :D.

Well, actually, you don't need to look at the Indian thread. My AIM away message says I'm accepted to college, as does my Facebook status, my Google Talk status and my MSN Messenger display name. Plus a bulletin on MySpace, updates on two blogs, a note of Facebook... plus I IMed everyone online and went all "I GOT INTO OBERLIN!" :)

Doesn't that tell you how excited I am? :D

congrats theonecurlyf**ry.....

Thanks! Maybe I'll see you at Oberlin :D

.<. I've been called Fairy enough already, you can say it.

Have any conservatory applicants been accepted yet?

Yes they have.
