oberlin/nyu hopeful, HELP ME

obsessed with both NYU and Oberlin, if anyone would like to comment on my chances at either school, that would be phenomenal (also like Washington U. in St. Louis, Wesleyan, Vassar, Tulane, Skidmore..any thoughts?)

junior at 2nd best public high school in my state
GPA (weighted): 4.2 (significant upward trend throughout highschool....3.98 frosh year, 3.98 soph year, 4.65 so far for junior year)...however 4.2 is out of 5.0 scale (ifhonors are taken) therefore a 4.2 = approx. a B+ average on an honors scale
SAT I's: have yet to take the march exams, expecting 700's-720's in writing and verbal, 650-700 in math
SAT II's: Literature (700) - plan to retake, Math (expecting a 650-700), Biology (expecting a 700-760)
honor roll every term of every year
Ap's - junior year: Bio, so far have an A- in the course
taking next year: AP Psych, Ap Calc (AB)

--writing is a stregth, i expect to have unique and (hopefully) flawless essay
-- already spoken to my two honors-level teachers that will be writing my recomendations, both will be writing me excellent recomendations

-i have a passion for photography and have had a lot of my work displayed/published, recieved an A+ in every photo course taken, am planning on sending a portfolio of my work, possibly including paintings i did in a honors level art course at my school

sorry i know my information has been long, i could really use your help if you have the time

You can probably get into both of these schools. Is it possible for you to take more AP courses? That could really help you. What do you plan on majoring in?

technically its possible for me to fit in some more AP's, however i'm fititng in an honors level philosphy (1/2 year) course and an honors level (1/2 year) shakespeare course...which really leaves no room for antything else. not sure about the major, i think i want to be an english major, either that or some form of an art (photography?)

how'd you get that Johns Hopkins scholar award?

i was part of this program where we got to take the SAT's in 7th and 8th grade (b/c of high MCAS score or something...), i think i got a 550 in verbal on the first and a 600 in verbal on the second, and therefore was named a john hopkins scholar. is that legit to put on my resume even tho it happened before high school? (on the plus side it is still SAT and therefore college related)

A lot of people have that Johns Hopkins thing, (not as in millions, but many) so I don't think that it really sets you apart majorly.

ya i now, but its not gonna hurt to have it on there

bumppppppppppp

i think youll be admitted no prob a friend of mine got into NYU last year even though all he had were grades and one summer of research, he had reallllly bad extra currics and you seem to have covered the spread so to speak

haha i just figured out what bump means

buuuuummmmmppppp =D

haha ya it took me a while to figure out what it meant too, thanks a lot for the encouragement, i feel a lot better now

i like your chances at oberlin and nyu....although they are very different as one is a rural, small liberal arts college and the other is the largest private university in our country's largest city. Good luck at both, your chances look good!

hahaha samtrob, goodluck at villanova!

bumppppppppp
