@gmfl71 like before school early?
Conservatory students were notified today! Not sure when, but a guy I know was accepted. Expecting decisions tomorrow for the rest of us sounds like a good bet.
Yes, but decisions aren’t emailed, they’re snail mailed–right?
@dec51995 oh you’re kidding me…please no…but the user above said her daughter received an e mail last year with the decision?
I’m not–the only thing I can find on this question is the admissions blog from 2011 saying they don’t use email to notify.
And that year, they sent the letters out on Mar 28th.
@dec51995 last year’s thread indicates that decisions were released via e-mail http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/oberlin-college/1627891-oberlin-college-rd-admission-thread.html
@momcat1, it was about 8AM Pacific Daylight Time. She received an email to check her Oberlin account (or whatever it’s called) and was greeted with virtual confetti and her acceptance. The snail mail acceptance came the following Saturday. Best of luck to all!
Does having a financial aid package showing under PRESTO indicate anything? I somehow missed the existence of this separate portal until yesterday. I applied ED (got deferred). Oberlin allows you to request an estimated aid package before you decide whether to apply early and this matches what they said they would provide, but I have no idea if it was there before yesterday. I guess I’ll know in a few hours.
@Momcat1: what’s the general admission board you’re talking about? Looks like Oberlin usually announces on Facebook, etc. when they have mailed, and all is quiet. Happy to hear it will be an email notification.
@dec51995 sorry, I meant the CC admissions thread
@Dec51995 - Oberlin has an admissions portal here: https://connect.oberlin.edu/account/. They have been posting decisions online at least since last year. I applied early so I can tell you that they will send an email when decisions are up (but I happened to see my deferral notice a few hours before I got the email). I don’t know if the email actually tells you the decision if it’s positive news. When I got deferred it just told me that there was an update in the portal. I got a hard letter in the mail a few days later.
They also have a separate portal for financial aid here: http://presto.cc.oberlin.edu/. I wasn’t aware of that till yesterday. I’d seen references to Presto on here, but I just thought that was the name of the admissions portal.
The financial aid information looks to have been posted to Presto overnight, so this should be an indication of whether people got accepted or not. I received $10k/year in merit but unfortunately that won’t be enough unless my parents can negotiate for a higher amount
So, I looked at Presto and I can’t find any awards but it also has my estimated cost of attendance and other stuff that wasn’t there before. Does this mean I got in but got no money at all?
How do you get onto Presto?
@fluteforlife - I posted the link above. I was really hoping this would go up during my free period. I don’t know how I’m going to pay attention during my classes now!
My pin and ID aren’t working to get in… Is it the ID on the application status page and the pin originally emailed?
How do you know what your pin is?
Thank you! But pin/ID do you use?
@epancotti Log into the admissions portal, it’s at the top
