Oberlin RD 2021

rejection, if they are going to reject me, why would they even ask me for extra taxes copies? but whatever, who wants to go to Ohio? eww.

Accepted! Congratulations to everyone!

Son accepted 23K Oberlin Scholarship. SAT 1540, ACT 34, GPA UW 4.0

From NJ, D accepted, scholarship + grant. 4.0 UW, 4.4 W.

Congratulations, fellow OBIES! My D is sooooo excited!

Rejected
1530 SAT
3.9 GPA

Accepted with John Frederick 25K scholarship!

Waitlisted. First waitlist since applying. Kinda confused but not really sad since I got into better schools. I definitely did want to go, but since Macalester, Northeastern, Boston, and Cornell accepted me, probably going to one of those. Congrats to all that got in though!

Accepted with John N. Stern Mathematics and Natural Sciences Scholarship 30K!

Accepted in both the college and conservatory!!! Got 16k/yr. 32 ACT. Where my other dual degree people at?!

D accepted with 20K scholarship! She is THRILLED. I think she’s going. She had 35 ACT and I think a 3.9-4.0 from competitive STEM public HS.

S rejected with similar stats with active ECs. Totally confused with accepted stats floating around here.

honestly some of it feels a bit random. my D was waitlisted at Hamilton which has similar acceptance rate.

@2021BKMom, understand the feeling but Hamilton and Oberlin have very different vibes and so are likely looking for different things - in today’s world of very selective colleges they pick you…

Accepted with a $25k scholarship. 34 ACT and 4.57 GPA. Congrats everyone!

Waitlisted.
4.7 GPA
35 ACT
5s on 4 AP Tests
recruited for Swimming
interviewed early.
Wondering what I did wrong.

Accepted with $20k/yr merit scholarship - a nice surprise as we were not expecting any $. Still pretty darn expensive though.
Are merit awards at all negotiable? We liked Oberlin a lot, but $50k/yr is a lot of money, especially since DS did not get into the conservatory as he had hoped.

totally agree, @Chembiodad - Oberlin is my D’s first choice anyway.

my D got $37,500 from Miami of Ohio - is there a hope of taking that to Oberlin and asking for a little more merit aid?

@2021BKMom, I don’t think they give out more than $25k as my DD1 got $23k with a 35 ACT, but no harm in asking
